History

Founded in 2015, StackPath is the vision for a frictionless and scalable security platform specifically designed to accommodate the crushing demand of traffic on the Internet and the seemingly endless new point solutions purporting to fix the latest threat, in an ever-expanding spectrum of cyber threats.

Funding

In one of the largest funding rounds for a private cybersecurity firm, StackPath has nearly $180 million in funding, $150 million of which comes from Boston-based private equity company, ABRY Partners.

Acquisitions

Since 2016, StackPath has acquired five companies to become a security-as-a-service platform and increase our network of customers.

Leadership

Dr. Lance Crosby, Esq. Chief Executive Officer & Chairman
Lance is founder, CEO and chairman of StackPath, founder and former chairman and CEO of SoftLayer Technologies and GM of Cloud Innovation at IBM (acquired by IBM in 2013 and now the foundation of IBM’s Cloud Computing division). His vision for StackPath began in his work with cloud technology and has manifested to a multi-product platform, leading businesses to a secure internet. Prior to creating SoftLayer, Lance spent five years with The Planet as chief operations officer where he managed all operations including sales, provisioning, product selection, managed services, application development, engineering, information security, business development, and legal departments. Serving in prior executive management roles at Catalog.com and Dallas Internet, he brings extensive experience in leadership and management skills coupled with extensive technical skills in software and hardware environments. He holds bachelors’ degrees in finance and management, a Master of Science in finance, a Master of Business Administration and an Honorary Doctorate from Tarleton State University, a part of the Texas A&M University System. Mr. Crosby’s legal education includes a Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in the state of Texas and is an active member of the State Bar of Texas.

Andrew Higginbotham, Chief Operating Officer & President
Andrew is an industry recognized veteran with more than 25 years of experience. Prior to joining StackPath, he led all of CenturyLink’s Cloud and Managed Services businesses. He was with CenturyLink for more than 13 years and held various positions in the company, including Savvis CTO, President of Cloud Services, and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. Andrew focused on finding growth opportunities for CenturyLink. He was an integral part of the team that saw CenturyLink grow from a rural-focused telecom to the third largest communications provider in the US as well as one of the largest global providers of managed hosting and cloud services. Before joining CenturyLink, Andrew was the COO of the startup Privista, focusing on internet privacy and identity theft in the early days of web adoption.

Kim Sheehy, Chief Financial Officer
Kim joined StackPath after serving as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of publicly-traded CyrusOne where she was named CFO of the Year by the Dallas Business Journal. Before CyrusOne, Kim held positions at Cincinnati Bell such as VP of Investor Relations, VP of Finance and Treasurer, and VP of Financial Planning and Analysis since 1996. Cincinnati's One Hundred Wise Women program awarded Kim one of the community's most accomplished women. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati.

Nick Nelson, Chief Strategy Officer & General Manager, VPN
Nick brings more than 15 years of experience in web hosting and founded one of the earliest cloud hosting companies before joining StackPath. Prior to StackPath, Nick worked with corporate development role with Amazon as a business manager of greenfield opportunities. Nick was part of the senior management team that executed a tax-free spinoff of Rightside from its parent company, Demand Media, in 2014. Other roles include General Manager and VP of New Product Development with UK2Group until it was sold to Lloyds TSB Capital in 2011. He brings extensive emerging market experience through UK2Group and Rightside, where he led offices in Ukraine and India focused on Product Development.

Steven Canale, Chief Revenue Officer
Steven is a 20-year veteran in customer-focused sales. Prior to joining StackPath, he served as the Vice President of sales at SoftLayer and IBM where he built a global sales force from zero to $400 million by providing strategic vision and establishing dynamic customer relationships. His ability to bring market focus and leading-edge sales technology has helped him build successful sales teams. Prior to SoftLayer, he was the director of sales at The Planet where he led a sales team to 18 consecutive months of sales records, growing sales from $10 million to more than $45 million. Steven holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration as well as a minor in marketing from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
