We're pleased to advise that we've extended the coverage of our elevation data to include parts of the far north of the Northern Hemisphere, which were previously not covered. This means you can now get elevation charts and statistics for routes anywhere in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Alaska, Russia and Canada.
You can see provisional elevation profiles for your routes as you plot them in the route planner but more detailed charts and statistics are available in the Route Profile tool after saving your route (see example route profile). You can also print, download and share your route profile from here.

Hi! My name is John and I'm the founder of plotaroute.com. I'd like to firstly say a big thank you for visiting the site - I hope you are finding it useful. I'd also like to take this opportunity to share with you another of my projects if I may.
In October 2015 my wife tragically died of ovarian cancer at the age of just 41. Like many in my situation, I became immersed in the world of cancer and was shocked to discover how cancer has become one of the most lucrative markets on the planet, with annual revenues from cancer drugs now well in excess of $100bn and the highest profit margins of any major industry in the world. While this alone is morally incomprehensible, the failure to research promising new treatments because they are not commercially attractive, the exorbitant pricing for new drugs which prices them out of reach of many patients who could benefit from them, and the millions of pounds spent developing new drugs that offer little improvement over existing drugs, are all signs of a broken system for cancer research that is letting down patients and all those who give money to help.
Lives are being lost because of a lack of market regulation to control profiteering and a lack of incentives to pursue opportunities that benefit patients most rather than shareholders.
Inspired by my wife's incredible courage and strength, I decided to take the initiative and set up a formal campaign to highlight how this tug of war between profits and public health acts like a handbrake on progress. The campaign is calling on the Government to introduce new regulations and market reforms to better protect the interests of patients. I'm campaigning in the UK, but of course the same issues apply across the whole world, so feel free to share this in your own country.
The campaign is called Dying for a Cure and is linked to a petition on change.org.
Please consider supporting this campaign, on behalf of every cancer patient dying for a cure. Thank you.
