Doesn't work anymore

ever since I updated windows, it doesn't work. When I open a video, it opens but instantly crashes before anything can load (crashes within the first second of being opened).

Great Start!

Only a beta and already much better than Groove Music! Music player is rock solid for me, no crashes or hangs. Only one minor problem, it displays most of my embedded album art fine but for about 25% of songs it either displays no art or random covers from other (wrong) albums. Keep up the good work!

Best free media player on xbone

I see a lot of complaints about this app, and it has some bad reviews. What people are forgetting it that despite the bugs in this app, it supports every video format i have tried (unlike the media player app) and has subtitle support (unlike the media player app). It is truly great!

It works...kind of

Like most reviews say, it will start music up, but once it's in the background, it freezes and stops. On top of that, putting songs on shuffle and repeat doesnt actually work, it still plays them in alphabetical order.

Seriously, VLC. Fix this please.

This app should be the best app when it comes to background audio. It has everything going for it. Album compatibility, playlist functions, and even Shuffle and Repeat. The only problem I have is that the music keeps bugging out while I am playing a game. If it wasn't for that simple bug, this would be an automatic 5 Star. Much better than the Simple Background Music Player.

Big improvement

Loving the UWP app! Just wish that the tile was transparent and that the app is more stable. Keep up the good work :)

Mixed bag

It's VLC. It'll play anything (nearly) *provided your external media drive is working*. I had to knock a star off because this is a bit buggier and less featureful than it should be. Forex; a folder having a folder with media in it says nothing's in the top level folder. (Makes sorting your media like <show>/s1/<episodes>, <show>/s2/<episodes>... nearly useless. I wouldn't object to just showing everything in a folder (period) and ditching the entire "media libary" concept. I don't use it on the Windows or Linux version of VLC, why force people into it here? It's just one more thing to go wrong.) Be aware, too, you can outrun the UI. (open a large video file, then open another before VLC changes to the "now playing" view. VLC will either hang, or play one of the two depending on the phase of the moon. Stacking three like this will crash. There's also no playlist creation/editing I can find. Just be aware that this has serious limitations, but they'll probably get fixed. soon. I hope.

Really want to like it...

I really like the design and layout. A key feature is the ability to view your music folders and play songs from them. This is a big feature lacking in groove music. The problem, is that the player stops after a few minutes of playing a song, so I end up having to go back to my phone and press the play button again. Fix this, and VLC gets 5 stars from me.

Definitely come a long way

This app felt a bit awkward when it was first released on Windows 10 Mobile, and I honestly wasn't expecting much on improvements, considering Windows 10 Mobile is mostly slept on by developers.. So when the app updates came in, I was surprised.. In a good way! This is how its supposed to be done. This app has become my first go-to app for videos, and its in second place for music playback when Groove Music is acting funky. It has video support that even Microsoft's own video player doesn't have, so its almost a NECESSARY app for this OS. Thank you for being one of the rare developers supporting us! My support for you goes a long way after this.

Almost there...

VLC is my fav media player. Stops playing sometimes, no song shuffle, cannot skip songs w home screen side menu, but seems to be best option for playing usb media. Look forward to future updates.
