Surface Studio - 1TB / Intel Core i5

2 Things of note: This machine contains a gaming graphics card which some applications can use, but a large number of professional design applications cannot. AutoCAD Inventor & SOLIDWORKS are 2 applications that have said this computer does not work well with their applications because it doesn't meet their minimum GPU specifications (Raster graphics card vs vector graphics card). Also Microsoft stop posting bogus reviews we can tell when you post your own 5 star comments you're somewhat obvious. As a small business owner and engineer/ designer I would expect more from Microsoft's marketing team before posting capabilities that are flat out wrong on this page. I'd love to hear from Microsoft on this issue.

After the Creator's Update, the SD card reader does not read older SD cards, like those from cameras. Also, MS disabled the ability to record audio from the sound card, such as the very common "What you Hear" or "Stereo Mix" You cannot record playing audio with the Surface Studio.. I see that as a big problem that they created on purpose. I've been to MS support, these issues stand. Judge your purchase accordingly.

I was very skeptical in regards to getting the machine, but after having it for 3 weeks, and learning how it works.. I have to say I'm pretty happy with it. So far no issues. I also use it for graphic design and I have to say the pen that comes with it does wonders and actually makes my work easier.

I rate it 4 stars just on its looks. Would certainly like to trial the system to see if it performs well. I always work with multiple screens so will need to look into the capabilities of the surface studio. Cost is on the higher side of that I would look at alternative comparable options.

I want to buy one Surface Studio, because I'm an artist and this is gonna be a great choice for me. But I don't have enough money for it and I think this is a little bit overpriced...

Look so beautifull and genius featurs

Love my surface studio. Love the visiual quality and the color accuracy. Love the fact that you can reorient to work standing or sitting down. One thing I would love to see is to make this more carry friendly. I would love to carry this to the office and back.

First, I did not purchase this for myself. I was graciously given the opportunity for this upgrade by my employer - so I neither put out money for it, nor did Microsoft give me incentive to write this review. What a BEAUTIFUL machine. Gorgeous aesthetically and powerful even though I received one with the i5 processor. I've had no issues and frequently have 4+ programs running at once. Beautiful picture quality. The pen function is lovely - pressure sensitive, immediately responsive, etc. The functionality and luxury combined is refreshing. Perfect for artwork and office work. I'm very frugal, and (unfortunately) couldn't afford this for my personal computer, but I will get one some day. This is worth the price tag.

--UPDATE-- I was urged to report my cracked screen problem in detail to [email protected], and was assured that this was an extremely rare event, and should not happen. They promptly sent someone to replace my Surface Studio and make sure I got the new one set up! Thanks, Surface Team! I noticed that it bogs down a bit when doing disk-intensive work like copying lots of files (moving photos from an SD card). I may try replacing the hybrid disk system with some SSDs. --ORIGINAL-- I love my Studio, but last night I tilted the monitor up from about 45 degrees to about 75 degrees using only one hand on the left side, causing the screen to crack from the lower left corner to the top center. This is not covered by the warranty, and a replacement will cost about $900. Be sure to use both hands when tilting your monitor! And get Microsoft Complete coverage from Surface Studio Customer Support within 45 days of purchase.

6/7/17 - So now I finally received a replacement for the defective machine and the replacement is practically unusable. It takes 15-20 minutes for the boot process to complete and during that time the hard drive is tacked out at 100%. (why would MS use an outdated hard drive technology with 5400rpm when they use SSD on the Surface Pro, which does not experience these same performance issues?) Also, I have encountered several blue screen reboots per day. Basically this thing is completely useless in a business situation because it is SOOOOO unreliable. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE IF IT WILL BE CRITICAL TO YOUR BUSINESS OPERATIONS! I WANT MY $4000 BACK! 5/18/17 - I've only had my Surface Studio for 2 weeks and I've had nothing but problems with it. And now today the touchscreen doesn't work anymore...ugh. Great concept but not a good option for mission-critical business use.
