Hi! My name is Aaron Parecki. I am known as W7APK on the radio, and aaronpk on the internet. I received my Technician license in November 2016, and upgraded to General in December.

Nets
I occasionally check in to a few of the local nets, such as the Oregon ARES District 1 net, the Portland NET net and the Oregon Skywarn net.
Gear
I have a few of the Baofeng UV-5R handhelds which cost about $25 each, which I use for experiments like connecting to a Raspberry Pi or my iPhone. Programming the Baofengs is nearly impossible to figure out on your own. Thankfully I found a great guide for how to program the Baofeng from the keypad. I also have the programming cable so I can program it from my computer with Chirp.
See my review of the Kenwood TH-D74a.
I am learning how to use the Kenwood TH-D72a.
APRS
I've been experimenting with APRS. At home, I have a Raspberry Pi connected to a Baofeng UV-5R running the Direwolf software listening for APRS beacons in the area.
