Please have this information available:
· Serial Number (S/N)
· Part Number (P/N)
· Model Number (M/N)
Product information
The product information is located on the bottom of the speaker.
Additionally, you’ll be able to find the Serial Number (S/N) in the UE MEGABOOM App under MORE > Settings > About UE MEGABOOM

You can connect your UE MEGABOOM to your smartphone, tablet or other device using either Bluetooth or the auxiliary input.
Bluetooth
Out of the package, your UE MEGABOOM is ready to pair with your first Bluetooth device. Here’s how:
Turn the speaker on by pressing the power button on the top of the speaker. The power indicator will glow white, the Bluetooth connect button (above the power button) will blink white rapidly, and you will hear a tone indicating the speaker is ready to pair.
On your Bluetooth device, go to the Bluetooth menu and scan for devices (make sure Bluetooth is enabled).
Select UE MEGABOOM from the list of devices.
NOTE: UE MEGABOOM volume is set to maximum when you pair it to an iOS device for the first time.
Once paired and connected, you’ll hear an audible confirmation from the speaker. This means your UE MEGABOOM is ready to use. You can pair additional devices with your speaker, see “Pairing additional Bluetooth devices with my UE MEGABOOM”
Auxiliary Input
Turn the speaker on by pressing the power button on the top of the speaker.
Connect the speaker to your Bluetooth device using a 3.5mm analog cable (not included).
NOTE: Use only a 3-pole (non-microphone or inline remote cable) auxiliary cable.
NOTE: If a Bluetooth device is connected to the UE MEGABOOM while playing audio from an auxiliary connection, the Bluetooth device will take priority and the stream from the auxiliary device will stop.
IMPORTANT: The USB connection is solely for charging your UE MEGABOOM. It won’t enable you to use your speaker as an audio-output device when connected to a computer.
A: Software updates for your UE MEGABOOM can be done using the UE MEGABOOM app. Download it from the Apple App store for your iOS device or from the Google Play store for your Android device.
Once you have the UE MEGABOOM app, here’s how to apply the update:
Tap lets you control the music directly from your UE MEGABOOM.
Note: Tap Controls can only be enabled through the app.
The first time you use this feature, you must connect your UE MEGABOOM to the app. Once they are connected, open the app to activate Tap Controls in the settings.
Once it’s activated, you can use Tap Controls with or without the app being active.
To use Tap Controls, first pick up your UE MEGABOOM and hold it upright. (Note: Your speaker may be held at a slight tilt, but Tap will not work if the speaker is upside down or on a flat surface.)
Tap the top of the speaker:
If your smartphone is NFC-enabled you can use it to connect your smartphone to your UE MEGABOOM, here’s how:
Ensure NFC is enabled on your smartphone (see your smartphone’s documentation for help).
Turn on your UE MEGABOOM. In some cases you may need to place your UE MEGABOOM in pairing mode. Press and hold the Bluetooth connect button on your UE MEGABOOM (above the power button) until you hear a tone.
Hold your smartphone to your UE MEGABOOM right below the Volume + and – button for up to 10 seconds.
NOTE: You may see a pop-up on your smartphone asking you to confirm the pairing.
IMPORTANT: Your UE MEGABOOM stays in a pairing state for 3 minutes. If you are unable to pair using NFC, place your UE MEGABOOM into pairing mode and try pairing using NFC within 3 minutes.
If you are unable to pair using NFC, see “Setting up my UE MEGABOOM” to pair through the Bluetooth device menu.
Block Party lets you and your friends play DJ through UE MEGABOOM.
Before getting started, make sure your app and speaker have been updated.
To start Block Party:
Add a friend: Have your friend turn on Bluetooth and connect to your speaker.
Remove a friend: Tap the X next to their device’s name.
Skip a friend’s song: Press the skip button.
Notes:
Your UE MEGABOOM will remember the last eight devices it connected with.
Pairing additional devices
After you pair the first device (See “How do I setup my UE MEGABOOM?”), here’s how to pair additional devices:
Turn the speaker on.
Hold down the Bluetooth button (above the power button) until you hear a tone.
NOTE: The Bluetooth connection button will blink rapidly, indicating that the speaker is ready for pairing.
On your device, go to the Bluetooth menu and scan for devices.
Select UE MEGABOOM from the list of devices.
Once paired and connected, you’ll hear an audible confirmation from the speaker. Your UE MEGABOOM is now ready to use with the device you added.
NOTE: While the speaker can store up to eight paired devices, it can only maintain an active connection with two of them at a time. See “Can I use my speaker with more than one device at a time?” for more information.
Reconnecting to a device
To reconnect a device to your UE MEGABOOM after the initial pairing or after pairing another device:
Turn the speaker on
On your device, go to the Bluetooth menu and select UE MEGABOOM from the list of devices.
Once reconnected, you’ll hear an audible confirmation from the speaker. Your UE MEGABOOM is now ready to use with the device you selected.
If you’re having trouble with audio distortion or drop-outs on your UE MEGABOOM, try these suggestions:
NOTE: If you’re streaming audio content from the internet, the issue could be with the internet connection and not your speaker.
If your Bluetooth device won’t connect to your UE MEGABOOM, try the following:
NOTE: If this is the first time you’re pairing a device with your speaker, you don’t need to press the Bluetooth connection button. It comes out of the box ready to pair.
Your UE MEGABOOM can have eight devices paired with it, and you can connect to two at a time. This lets you quickly switch to a second device to play audio without having to go through the connection process again. Here’s how:
NOTE: If you haven’t paired any devices, see “How do I setup my UE MEGABOOM” for help.
NOTE: If you haven’t paired any additional devices, see “How do I pair additional Bluetooth devices with my UE MEGABOOM” for help.
Once you have two devices connected, you can start playing audio from one of them.
To switch and play audio from another connected device, pause the current one. Then, start playing the other.
"
You can use your UE MEGABOOM as a speakerphone once it’s turned on and connected to your smartphone. Here’s how:
A: iPhone – You’ll have the option to take the call on your UE MEGABOOM (speakerphone) or directly on your phone. Select “audio source” from the In-call menu, then tap UE MEGABOOM to use it as a speakerphone.
B: Android – On most Android smartphones, the call will default to the UE MEGABOOM (speakerphone). Turn Headset mode off on your smartphone to take the call directly.
Adjust the call volume from either the phone or speaker.
When you’re finished with the call, end the call on your phone.
NOTE: Skype may or may not work on a Bluetooth speakerphone. This depends on your smartphone’s make and model, and Skype settings.
You can connect your UE MEGABOOM to a Mac or PC that has Bluetooth capabilities.
Mac
NOTE: The Bluetooth connection button will blink rapidly, meaning the speaker is ready for pairing.
PC
Turn the speaker on.
If this is the first device you’re pairing to your UE MEGABOOM, it will already be ready to pair, otherwise, hold down the Bluetooth button (above the power button) until you hear a tone.
NOTE: The Bluetooth connection button will blink rapidly, meaning the speaker is ready for pairing.
Open your Control Panel.
Select Hardware and Sound.
Select Devices and Printers.
Select Bluetooth Devices.
Click Add a device.
Select UE MEGABOOM from the list of devices, and then click Next.
NOTE: If the Bluetooth Device Control window opens, expand the Headset type menu and select “My hands-free device UE MEGABOOM does not have a display” and then click Apply.
Once your speaker is paired and connected, you’ll have to select the UE MEGABOOM as the default playback device in the Windows Sound settings. Here’s how:
Open your Control Panel.
Select Hardware and Sound.
Select Manage audio devices (under Sound).
Select “Speakers Bluetooth Hands-free Audio” and click Set Default.
Click OK.
You may experience audio problems if one of the two devices keeps requesting the connection while the current device is streaming. If so, try the following:
NOTE: You’ll have to go through the pairing process again to pair your UE MEGABOOM to your Macintosh computer if you do this. (See “Pairing additional Bluetooth devices with my UE MEGABOOM” for help.)
The volume settings between your UE MEGABOOM and Apple device can sometimes get out of synchronization. If this happens, try the following:
"
If your iOS device no longer connects to your UE MEGABOOM, try the following:
If your iOS device still won’t connect, you should re-pair your device with the UE MEGABOOM. Here’s how:
NOTE: The Bluetooth connection button will blink rapidly, meaning the speaker is ready for pairing.
"
Some devices will hold a connection with UE MEGABOOM even when the stream is paused or the connection is idle.
To fix this issue, try the following on the device you no longer want to use:
OR
This should allow another device to connect to your UE MEGABOOM.
The UE MEGABOOM was designed to be used with a 3-pole (non-microphone or inline remote cable) auxiliary connector. You may experience unexpected behavior with controls if you use a 4-pole (with inline microphone and/or inline remote) auxiliary cable.
Only use a 3-pole cable with your UE MEGABOOM.
Not only can you name your UE MEGABOOM anything you want, you can make the UE MEGABOOM app reflect your chosen name, too. Here’s how:
Android Device
Connect your device to your UE MEGABOOM.
Open the UE MEGABOOM app.
Tap MORE, and then Settings.
Tap Speaker name and enter the new name for your speaker.
NOTE: You might have to un-pair and re-pair your speaker for the changes to take effect.
For Android, you can also change the display name of your UE MEGABOOM in the Bluetooth device menu. Here’s how:
Open your Bluetooth device menu.
Locate your UE MEGABOOM and tap the Settings icon next to it.
Tap Rename and enter the new name for your speaker.
iOS Device
Connect your device to your UE MEGABOOM.
Open the UE MEGABOOM app.
Tap MORE, and then Settings
Tap Speaker name and enter the new name for your speaker.
You can’t change the display name of your UE MEGABOOM in the iOS Bluetooth device menu.
NOTE: You might have to un-pair and re-pair your speaker for the changes to take effect.
If you have multiple UE MEGABOOM speakers connected to one or more iOS devices, you might not be able to select which speaker to use with the iOS Airplay menu.
If you have two Bluetooth sources, try disconnecting the second source and use only one source.
For the best experience, install the UE MEGABOOM app to manage switching between speakers.
If you have two UE MEGABOOM speakers, you can use them together to amplify your sound. Here’s how:
Using the app
Note: You can also use the app to “lock” the Double Up connection so when you power both of your UE MEGABOOM speakers up, they’ll automatically reconnect in Double Up. See “Activating Sticky Double Up” for more help.
Without the app
Use the UE MEGABOOM app to manage the two modes:
Double – Expands the audio to the two UE MEGABOOM speakers for double the sound.
Stereo – Turns the two UE MEGABOOM speakers into Left and Right speakers (you can also swap the left and right designation using the app).
IMPORTANT: You can only use the “Double Up” feature with one connected Bluetooth device.
Yes, but make sure your UE BOOM has the latest UE BOOM software. UE BOOM update version 7.x and 8.x allow for compatibility with UE MEGABOOM, but versions 5.x and 6.x do not.
Your UE BOOM and UE MEGABOOM Double Up in the same way as they would with another UE BOOM or UE MEGABOOM. See “Using the UE MEGABOOM Double Up feature” for more information.
A: Unfortunately, UE MEGABOOM cannot Double Up with UE MINI BOOM.
A: Before you can set an alarm on your UE MEGABOOM, you will need to make sure that you have the UE MEGABOOM App.
To download the app, please visit Google Play or the iOS App Store.
Once you have the app installed, open it and tap ALARM to set it up.
A: You can set your alarm to repeat daily by selecting “Daily Repeat” in the app Alarm settings, but you will not be able set multiple alarms for the same day.
A: No. Your alarm will play on the primary UE MEGABOOM that it was connected to when the alarm was set up. It will not play on two UE MEGABOOMs, even if you last used them in Double Up mode.
A: You have two options when selecting the alarm music on your UE MEGABOOM:
Last Played:
Choosing this option allows you to set the alarm music with the last song that was played from your phone or tablet. This can be music that is stored on the device itself or it can be music that was played from a music service (e.g. Spotify, Pandora, Deezer, etc). In the case of music services, you can select a specific song, a playlist or even a radio station.
My Library:
Choosing this option allows you to set the alarm music with any song(s) from the local music library on your phone or tablet.
A: Most music services work with the UE MEGABOOM alarm, including popular services like Spotify and Pandora. To use a music service with the alarm:
"
On your phone or tablet:
On your UE MEGABOOM:
Snooze will delay the alarm by 10 minutes. If you don’t snooze or turn your alarm off, your music will continue to play for an hour.
A: That song will repeat until you turn the alarm off. After 1 hour, the alarm will turn itself off. If you snooze your alarm, it will play for an hour from the last snooze.
A: If your alarm played the backup alarm sound instead of the music you selected, check the following:
"
A: Your alarm will still activate as you have it set.
A: If your alarm played on your phone instead of your UE MEGABOOM, check the following:
"
A: When you cross different time zones, your UE MEGABOOM alarm will NOT automatically change to the new time zone even if the clock on your phone changes. You have to adjust the alarm time in the UE MEGABOOM app manually.
A: A backup alarm will play on your phone or tablet.
There are two ways to check your speaker’s current battery level.
Button press
UE MEGABOOM app
"
A: You can remotely turn your UE MEGABOOM on and off using the UE MEGABOOM app. This feature is automatically enabled the first time you connect your UE MEGABOOM to your smartphone and run the app.
To turn your UE MEGABOOM on and off remotely, open the app and tap the power button.
NOTE: This feature is only supported on Bluetooth Smart ® enabled devices. Check with your device manufacturer to see if your device supports this feature.
A: Your UE MEGABOOM will stay on without an active stream for 15 minutes before it powers off to save battery life.
"A: Yes. Your UE MEGABOOM has been tested to withstand up to 1 meter of submersion for up to 30 minutes. Make sure the weatherdoor for the 3.5mm auxiliary port and micro USB port is on securely before bringing your UE MEGABOOM near water."
The volume on your iOS device and UE MEGABOOM are synchronized, but because your speaker has double the amount of volume steps, it will take twice the number of button presses on your speaker to reach max volume.
If you adjust your volume on your iOS device, there are only 16 volume steps, so from the lowest volume setting to max volume, it will take 16 presses. Your UE MEGABOOM has 32 steps from lowest to max, so 32 presses are needed to reach max volume from the lowest volume setting.
Yes. The rechargeable battery in UE MEGABOOM is designed to keep going strong for years –even if you listen to it all the time and charge it daily. However, if your UE MEGABOOM ever gets to the point where you think the battery needs to be replaced, please look for our battery replacement program which will be available after the standard 2-year-warranty coverage expires.
When you purchase a Battery Replacement Service for $49, UE will send you a pre-paid mailing box with directions on how to pack and send your UE MEGABOOM to us. You'll be able to continue the party with a new battery in just a few weeks. Shipping and turnaround times depend upon your location. This service will be available in countries where Ultimate Ears has an online store.
Additional terms and conditions may apply. Offer details and price subject to change without notice.
A: Yes, some smart devices (smartphones and tablets) come equipped with a newer technology called Bluetooth Smart (or Bluetooth Low Energy, BLE). This feature is required to turn your speaker on and off remotely within the UE MEGABOOM app.
Go to the following page to get a comprehensive list of Bluetooth Smart and Bluetooth Smart Ready devices.
Note: This list may not contain all of the latest devices that are compatible with Bluetooth Smart. Refer to your device’s support documentation or contact your device’s manufacturer for more information.
Make sure Bluetooth Smart is on
Additionally, not all speakers will support this feature.

Unsupported:
A: You can double up your UE MEGABOOM and UE BOOM. However, they can only play back in standard Double Up mode, and cannot switch to Stereo mode. Using the speakers in Stereo mode won’t give you the best experience, as the sound signature for each speaker is different.
Please see the Immersion Guide in the app for more details on the difference between Stereo and Double modes.
In order to access the latest and greatest features for your UE speaker, make sure you update:

Charging
Using the USB cable provided, and a standard USB port (e.g. Laptop) it will take approximately 5 hrs. 30 mins to recharge your Ultimate Ears Speaker to 100%. Megaboom can also be charged with most USB chargers and times will be faster depending on the output of the USB charger you use.
