Nefesh Mountain is the place where the Jewish spirit and soul meet with Bluegrass and Old-Time music. Husband and Wife team Eric Lindberg & Doni Zasloff are pioneering this blend of Jewish Americana throughout the country, bringing their unique knowledge and passion for both Jewish and Bluegrass traditions to the fore, singing English and Hebrew songs alike. Their songs and spirituals draw from the beautiful depths of Jewish culture, illuminated with the timeless sounds of Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Fiddle, Bass, & Dobro.
"What seems initially to be a curious novelty combining bluegrass and traditional Jewish music, turns out to be an idea that makes absolute sense…The union is a perfect fit… It took matchmakers Nefesh Mountain to get these two together, and we’re thankful they did."

We are excited to announce that our much anticipated second full length record "Beneath The Open Sky" will be released this fall! This past Winter we were down in Nashville recording new material for our second outing and are extremely proud feature Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Tony Trischka, & David Grier, as well as our Northeast band including Alan Grubner and Tim Kiah. Official release date and information will be available soon but for now, enjoy some photos direct from The Sound Emporium in Nashville TN.
Our debut self titled album features bluegrass greats Sam Bush on Mandolin and Vocals, Mark Schatz on Bass, Scott Vestal on Banjo, Rob Ickes on Dobro, and Gary Oleyar on Fiddle. We recorded the record at Sound Emporium studios in Nashville TN with our good friend Adam Taylor as head engineer.
“A highly-effective blend of these two spheres… only rarely have we heard a prominent Jewish counterpoint to the gospel music that has been a part of bluegrass since Bill Monroe’s earliest recordings.”

This holiday season we are so excited to release this pairing of songs written by the great Okie troubadour, Woody Guthrie. Woody moved to Coney Island in 1942 and spent much of his time learning from and collaborating with his Jewish mother in law and yiddish poet Aliza Greenblatt. He identified with the stories and hardships of the Jewish people inspiring him to write these unique and powerful poems and songs. Though these works and Jewish writings were little known at the time, their rediscovery by his daughter Nora Guthrie paints a fuller picture of Woody as a writer, social activist, and humanitarian.
