Delete searches & other activity from your account
You can delete past searches, browsing history, and other activity from your Google Account. You're in control of what's stored in My Activity, and you can stop saving most activity at any time.

Delete activity saved in My Activity
To find and delete activity that's saved in My Activity, choose from the options below. When you delete activity, that action can't be undone.
Tip for mobile devices: To quickly delete an item or bundle of related activity, swipe it to the right.
To delete individual items, like a search you did on Google or a website you visited on Chrome:
- Go to My Activity. You might need to sign in to your Google Account.
- Find the item you want to delete. You can find an item a few different ways, including:
- On the "My Activity" banner, choose More

- On the "My Activity" banner, choose More
- On the item you want to delete, choose More
Delete.
- Confirm your choice if asked.
My Activity groups similar activity together into bundles. (Note: Bundles might not capture all similar activity.)
To delete activity in a bundle:
- Go to My Activity. You might need to sign in to your Google Account.
- Find the bundle you want to delete. You can find bundles a few different ways, including:
- Browse by day (If you don't see bundles: On the "My Activity" banner, choose More
Bundle view.)
- Use search or filters
- Browse by day (If you don't see bundles: On the "My Activity" banner, choose More
- At the top of the bundle, choose More
Delete.
- Confirm your choice.
To find and delete activity by search or by adding product and date filters:
- Go to My Activity. You might need to sign in to your Google Account.
- Near the top of the page, select the search bar or Filter by date & product.
- From here you can:
- Enter a search term.
- Add a date range.
- Choose which Google products to include. (Note: Some Google products don't save activity in My Activity.)
- At the top of the page, select Search
.
- To delete search results, next to the search bar, select More
.
- To delete certain results: Choose Select. Click or tap the items you want to delete. On the top right, choose Delete
.
- To delete all results: Choose Delete results.
- To delete certain results: Choose Select. Click or tap the items you want to delete. On the top right, choose Delete
- Confirm your choice.
To delete all activity from today, yesterday, or another day or date range:
- Go to My Activity. You might need to sign in to your Google Account.
- On the "My Activity" banner, choose More
Delete activity by.
- Choose the day or date range.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm your choice.
To delete all activity that's saved in My Activity:
- Go to My Activity. You might need to sign in to your Google Account.
- On the "My Activity" banner, choose More
Delete activity by.
- Below "Delete by date," select the Down arrow
All time.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm your choice.
Stop saving activity
You can control most of the information that's saved in My Activity.
To prevent your searches, browsing history, and most other activity from being saved in My Activity:
- Go to Activity controls. You might need to sign in to your Google Account.
- Next to the activity you don't want to save, turn off the switch.
- To confirm, select Pause.
If you occasionally want to prevent activity from being saved to your account, you can search and browse the web privately. Don't sign in to your Google Account in the private window.
Fix problems
If you delete items and they still show up in My Activity:
- Make sure the device is connected to the Internet. If you delete items from My Activity on one device, they might still appear on any devices that are offline. When the offline device connects to the Internet, the items will be removed.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies. Learn how to clear cache and cookies in Chrome. If you use another browser, check its instructions for how to clear cache and cookies.
What happens to deleted activity
When you delete items from My Activity, they are permanently removed from your Google Account. You will no longer get suggestions, like search terms or recommended videos, based on activity you've deleted.
Google might keep some data with your account about your use of products and services. For example, if you delete a search, we'll still know that you did a search, but not what you searched for.
Delete activity saved in other places
Your activity might be saved in places other than My Activity. You can delete most of your activity that's saved in those products.
Not all of the activity that's saved to your account shows up in My Activity. For example, if you've turned on Location History, that activity is saved to your Maps Timeline instead.
To delete activity saved in other places on your account:
- Go to My Activity. You might need to sign in to your Google Account.
- On the "My Activity" banner, choose More
Other Google activity.
- From here you can:
- Delete certain activity: Below the activity you want to delete, select Delete. Confirm your choice.
- Get to the right place to delete activity: Below the activity you want to delete, select the appropriate option. You'll go to a page where you can delete that activity.
Your activity might be stored in your browser, even if you delete it from My Activity.

Data about your use of products & services
When you use Google products and services, we keep some data with your Google Account, like when and how you use certain features. We keep this data even if you delete activity or other items.
- For example, if you go to My Activity and delete a search you did on Google, we might still know how often you do searches. What you searched for will no longer be stored with your account.
The Google Privacy Policy explains how we use this data. It helps us to do things like:
- Prevent spam and abuse
- Improve our products and services, and develop new ones
- Understand how different products and features impact each other
- Get business insights, like how many people use certain products or features and for how long
We keep this data as long as it's relevant to meet uses like those above. If you delete your account, we remove this data from it.
