Main Doctrinal Differences between Jehovah's Witnesses and Other Denominations

JWs believe Jesus Christ has begun reigning in heaven and will soon return to establish the Kingdom on earth. Unlike other denominations of Christianity, Jehovah's Witnesses believe in Restorationism, which means going back to the original Christian teachings from the first-century followers of Christ

JWs do not believe in the doctrine of the Trinity. Rather, we believe the Father alone is God, Jehovah. We believe Jesus Christ to be the first creation of God and the appointed King of his heavenly Kingdom. The holy spirit is God's active force that he uses to accomplish his will.

We do not believe a loving God would create a literal hell where people are tormented for all eternity. The lake of fire is a symbol of eternal destruction for unrepentant enemies of Jehovah God, same goes for the Gehenna Jesus mentioned.

We don't believe in an immortal soul The Bible says at Ezekiel 18:4 says, “the soul that is sinning - it itself will die.” Neither do we believe that all Christians go to heaven. Rather, 144,000 people chosen by God go to heaven to reign with Christ and help administer his worldwide government. The rest await living forever in an earthly paradise in perfect health and peace.

The use of this subreddit is primarily for current Jehovah’s Witnesses interested in having upbuilding conversations with each other. Those interested in asking Jehovah’s Witnesses questions are also allowed in the weekly pinned "Ask a JW" thread. Make sure that your questions or comments are well explained. Your position on any matter you post about must be clearly understood. Explain your reasoning or thoughts as to how you have come to your conclusions.

Name calling doesn't make your point anymore correct. All it does is make a debate or argument more heated. This includes calling Jehovah’s Witnesses a cult. Do not come on with the intent to criticize or troll. With respect, attack the idea instead of the person.

Repeated non-constructive criticism of our beliefs may lead to the removal of comments, warnings, and bans at moderator’s and community’s discretion.

ANTI-JW

We encourage discussion about our faith on here. However, those who are Anti-JW, including disfellowshipped, disassociated, or apostate are not welcome. This also means those that spend time in Anti-JW subs. Those who are inactive or “faders”, who have not interest in serving Jehovah are not allowed to engage in discussion on here.

Do not create alternative accounts, it takes longer to create a new account than it does for us to ban another alt. Plus, it's against site-wide rules to evade bans and can result in more drastic steps being taken by Reddit admins. As long as you are polite and follow the rules, you will not be banned.

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Governing Body, being imperfect, are not inspired or infallible. We believe that they try their best to guide Jehovah’s Witnesses as a whole. Posts with the intent to negatively criticize the Governing Body or convince current JWs not to listen to them will be removed and may lead to a ban.

Any content that is from a source claiming to be against the governing body will be removed and may result in a ban. Any content from Jehovah’s Witnesses that is of a private nature will be removed. Examples include private documents such as the Elder Help Book or private financial and legal papers.

Please use your reasoning ability when posting. Is your post technically following the rules, but something that is going to attack a core belief, without asking any kind of question? Probably not a good idea to post it. We are open to discussion about doctrine, but will not tolerate negative criticism or any kind of link to any source mentioning apostate material. Please use wisdom in your posts.
