Tyson Fury went life & death with John McDermott twice, with most people believing he clearly lost the first fight. He was also dropped by Neven Pajkic & went life & death with him too. David Price on the other hand knocked McDermott out in the first round, and was actively pursuing the Fury showdown.

But rather than fight Price, Fury -who was British champion at the time -vacated his title & fought Martin Rogan instead. That was one of the low points of Tyson Fury's career in terms of popularity & perceived vulnerability. Price was walking straight through men who gave Tyson Fury hell, and as a result most people couldn't see how Fury could possibly beat Price. When he vacated his belt they saw it as Fury running scared. This was way back in 2011/2012.

Fast forward to 2019 & things couldn't be more different. People's perceptions of both men have completely changed. The moral of the story is- don't be so quick to make conclusive judgements. Boxing- especially heavyweight boxing -is notoriously unpredictable. The only thing you should expect, is the unexpected.

I think people are just getting carried away with Fury’s win over Schwarz. I have honestly seen people go as far as saying that it was “the best heavyweight performance over last 30 years” and saying “he’s the second coming of Ali” just simply over that performance. Yes I will admit he is the slickest of all the heavyweight’s at the moment (that is until usyk’s officially moves up) but in boxing styles make fights and Schwarz not only was/is very poor opposition for any top 15 heavyweight but his style is tailor maid for Fury. I am a massive fan of Fury’s, AJ and Whyte and I hope they all go on to have unbelievable careers. I just think people need to stop getting carried away and realise that styles make fights.
