The ninth Lead Inspector General (Lead IG) report on Operation Freedom's Sentinel (OFS) has been published and presented to Congress. This report summarizes the quarter’s key events and describes completed, ongoing, and planned Lead IG and partner agency oversight work relating to OFS.

The Spring 2017 Semiannual Report to the Congress has now been posted on the OIG website. It covers OIG’s oversight work during the reporting period October 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017. This meets OIG’s requirement to issue a semiannual report to the Congress on oversight of the Department of State and the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

The LIG quarterly report to Congress on Operation Freedom’s Sentinel was published on August 18, 2017. This is the ninth quarterly report on this overseas contingency operation. Two complementary missions constitute OFS: 1) the U.S. counterterrorism mission against al Qaeda, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria—Khorasan, and their affiliates in Afghanistan, and 2) U.S. participation in the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission to train, advise, and assist Afghan security forces.
This is the tenth quarterly report produced by LIG-OCO on Operation Inherent Resolve. OIR is dedicated to countering the terrorist threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Iraq, Syria, the region, and the broader international community. The U.S. counter-ISIS strategy includes support to military operations associated with OIR, as well as diplomacy, governance, security programs and activities, and humanitarian assist.
Richard Millette was indicted on one count of “Theft of Government Property” and two counts of “Unauthorized Sale, Conveyance, and Disposition of Government Property.” Millette allegedly acquired ballistic vests and combat helmets valued at more than $16,000. He is accused of selling them online and trading them for other items. OIG's Office of Investigations is investigating.
