What is a MyData Local hub?

There are many active people in different cities and countries all around the globe, who want to develop the MyData approach locally. These people are building networks and alliances with key local stakeholders in order to empower the local community making steps forward to more human-centric data management.

OK, but what does it mean to be a “Local hub”?

Hubs can be in all sizes and in all forms, what fits best to you. Our proposed action points would be to gather people from businesses, public and third sector to common meetups, work together on the MyData declaration as starting point for discussions and develop further strategies based on shared interest.

After the first meetups, it is highly recommended to define a clear mission, which should be aligned also with MyData mission. After some time, we should also be able to have some objective measures to track your contributions to the network, like meetups or events that you run, use cases that you collect, materials you produce, etc. We’d like to also see the key drivers of the hubs taking part of the Global network meetings.

Great! You are most welcome to join our global network and we are happy to help you kickoff this in your local area. Here’s what you can do as your first moves:

1. Join mydataglobal workspace in Slack, our proposed medium for all MyData discussions. Get the invitation in https://mydata.org/slack
   
2. Join #global channel, discuss and get inspired by other hubs and their activities, e.g

1. ongoing Alliance meetups and bigger events
2. translations of the MyData White Paper and MyData Declarations (see all the available translations at the menu on the right)
3. lobbying for legislation and local policy
4. aiming for joint projects (MesInfos, Trustnet)
   

3. Join the monthly Global Telco's at global channel (taking place every last Monday of the month 2pm CET)
