That’s naive, even for you. Pre 2011 many of the same Syrians bringing these cases now were detained and tortured for advocating rule of law reform or for advocating on behalf of torture victims. This is why other justice mechanisms are now being employed (UJ, IIIM)

These cases led by Syrians are about holding perpetrators to account - the driver is for justice against impunity. You can impose your ‘geopolitical spin’ if you like but it won’t impact on why these cases are progressing.
