I should say that it was who first suggested to me this idea that Obama, oddly enough, would prove, long term, to be the model for a multiracial, multicultural movement of the working classes. Nikhil's vision is coming true faster than he anticipated!

Another lefty running for Congress. In Hawaii. What's great about this cohort, beyond their leftism, is how well they incorporate their personal stories in their politics. No more John Kerry's, Al Gores, or Hillary Clintons struggling to come up w/an authentic personal narrative!

I enjoyed it, too! We also got to talk Steve Bannon—I'm convinced he's a character out of a knock-off Henry James novel, wandering the hotel suites of Europe, looking for love and audiences with the powerful—and Russiagate and the left.

I should probably say there, with respect to those daytime talk shows from the past, that it was in the 1960s *and* early 1970s (and not just the early 1970s), since Malcolm X was assassinated in 1965.

This is a good piece on what Medicare for All is (universal, comprehensive coverage, free at the point of service, paid for through taxing the rich) and isn't (anything sold to you by the Center for American Progress or Andy Slavitt)

God bless Joy Behar! To see liberalism redefined as democratic socialism, to see liberalism positioning itself not in the shadow of the right but amid the specter of the left: that seems like major progress to me!

Alas, I wrote this book that argues the opposite and for one reason or another, I'm kind of committed to its thesis.

Jeb Bush probably wouldn't agree, but to Trump’s “racism, irregularity, and populism, and the ambient violence that trails him and his entourage” are “the telltale signs of conservatism."

Whereas racism, misogyny, nativism, and a commitment to crony capitalism—all judiciously well-informed, no doubt—is something 49.02% of Floridians are pretty cool with.

As the cost of college has risen, it's become even harder for working class students to keep up, especially if they graduate with thousands in student loans. That’s why I’m fighting for free tuition at every CUNY and SUNY school. (via )
