Collection item of the week: Torah Shield. Augsburg, 1788 made by Johann Alois Suffer (1782-1814) who devoted a sizable amount of his oeuvre to ceremonial Judaica. A number of similar shields by Suffer exist in public and private collections including one in our collection.
