Using GPS in the background can decrease battery life. Google Photos doesn't run GPS in the background unless you turn on optional features.

True As Advertised
I D/L this app for the sole purpose of minimizing my I-Phones overall speed & quality due to the *Apple Photos* app always being the #1, largest size of GB that becomes used & therefore drastically reduces my phones overall speed & function. However, since I have transferred of my photos through the Google photos application I have freed up nearly 1/2 of my current phone plans monthly data allowance/eligibility. I love this app for many reasons and other than allowing for an improved function, The app offers so many different and cool ideas which I've already took an advantage of :D... *On a side note, if you are downloading this app because your storage space is becoming too full you must delete all of your photos and videos through your Apple Photos Account, but I don't feel as if you're going to delete them forever! As that was my biggest fear, but it definitely is a must-have app.
Use this as a backup of your backup
I have read a lot of reviews where people loose all of their photos.
Here are my tips and suggestions to prevent that,
{the app has 2 ways to delete}
*delete by the trash can*
*delete by the “3 dot icon”* (I’m on iPhone)
Trash can deletes the photo EVERYWHERE, if the original photo is still on the device, it will delete it both.
The icon allows you to “delete device original* (this is the safe and correct way if you are wanting to back up your photos) this way will only delete the photo that is on your phone - but it will keep a copy stored in google photos.
I use google photos as a bridge on my phone to backup my photos until I have enough time to manually back them up to my external hard drive.
I also have my settings on google photos set to backup while using cellular data - that way they are always getting backed up - not just when I’m hooked up to WiFi (which is the default of the app). I would select the cellular option if you have unlimited data.
I love this app and I personally have not had any issues by following those steps.
It is incredible to have a FREE cloud backup for photos!
love it!!! but....
i really love this app... easy to manage and not ever confusing i looooooooove that i can now take more pictures without that stupid notification that im running low on space BUT im hella nervous google photos will erase some of my pictures at some point.... it hasnt happened yet! and i hope google has fixed it but a little birdie told me that they didnt like it because at one point google just started erasing your earlier pictures and u wouldnt notice until its too late........ other than that... i love how i can share photos with friends in a whole album i love being able to search something with a couple descriptors overall a great app for people who like to screenshot, save, or take pictures!!!(***being able to access ur photos w/o ur phone is also a MAJOR plus)
