Is your idea of a great job something you'd do even if you didn't have to? It is for us.
Don't get bogged down by corporate life. We keep things fun and creative. Open doors, open minds.
We help people see and understand data. Since day 1, we've been living by those 7 words.
It's an easy motto to follow: Work hard. Have fun. Then have some more fun.
Worklife quality goes way up when you work with really bright people without egos getting in the way.
Why be surrounded by some suburban corporate park? Go somewhere cool every day.
It's not about living to work hard. It's about working somewhere great to live well. We know what's important.
Wouldn't you love to work on products customers are passionate about? They tell us what they think: good and bad. And we love it.
Who uses our products? Everyone. From Fortune 500 companies, to video game designers, to scientists in the jungles of Central America, to high school principals.
Whether at employee parties, conferences or every day life at the office, we're still having fun. Check out some snapshots of life at Tableau.

I love trends in pop culture and wanted to do something fun for Valentine’s Day. I built this viz using Google Trends data and embedded YouTube videos. It was such a fun project. And I dare you to listen to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and not dance, too.
This one’s easy: I’m surrounded by brilliant and creative people. When I can look left and right and see people who inspire and challenge me, it’s easy to see why I love coming to work every day.
I’ve been tracking my cycling data for 7 years. I had all this data but no way to easily analyze it until Tableau. It was also a great opportunity to learn Tableau’s calculation language on a dataset I was intimately familiar with—so I would know when I got it right.
I get to work with amazing people. I also get to meet the customers who use our software. Seeing how their lives are changed for the better because of something I worked on is one of the most fulfilling things I’ve experienced.
I wanted to get my band’s demo played on our local indie radio station. I needed to figure out which DJs play bands like mine the most. The KEXP community really loved the viz, so I made some exploratory dashboards for people to ask their own questions. (By the way—it worked! Two DJs played our demo on KEXP.)
My passions feed into my job and my job feeds into my passions. I've been privileged to tell data stories about music and write blog posts about using web data connectors to analyze my band’s Facebook fans. And it's fun to see all my Tableau friends in the crowd supporting me when my band plays a gig.
A government agency wanted to publish a whitepaper on macro trends. I grabbed three tables of open source data (two World Bank indicators and one from the Census Bureau) to show how those simple tables of numbers could tell a rich and compelling story from multiple angles.
We are a company on a mission. I’ve seen people shed tears when they talk about the impact Tableau has on their lives. I spent 10 years in public service and never thought I’d have this deep an impact at a software company. This is about much more than software.
Non-profits are always trying to “read the tea leaves”—identify corporate partners whose priorities align with their own focus. You can find data online, but drilling into specifics could take a long time. I created this easily sortable and searchable viz. It’s really useful for me, and my grant-writing friends love it!
This is a company full of people who believe we have a product that can change the world. I love finding opportunities to prove them right.
Tableau offers internships throughout the company in Development, Operations, Marketing, and Sales. Whether writing code for our newest feature, or creating social media plans for our marketing team, you’ll do real work that makes an impact. Join us for 10-12 weeks in the summer, and get ready to experience Tableau from the inside, be mentored by the best and brightest, and have a blast with your fellow interns.

Why did you choose Tableau?
I wanted to work for a company that had a great talent pool like a large tech company, yet had agility of execution like a startup. Tableau had the right balance.
What are you studying and why?
I’m pursuing my MS in Computer Science. I spent a lot of time with my PC, playing games as a kid. When I grew up, I decided I wanted to make a career with computers.
What was your favorite memory from your internship?
It’s hard to pinpoint just one. My intern group grew very close over the three months we spent together. We toured a chocolate factory, went to a Sounders game, watched fireworks at Gas Works Park, hiked mountains, had parties, escaped from an escape room, saw an improv show… and we wrote some code too.
Why did you choose Tableau?
I chose Tableau for a few reasons, one being its reputation not only as a respected company, but as a company that respects its workers.
Why did you choose Tableau?
The culture is exactly what I was looking for: Everyone is collaborative and helpful and cares deeply about the projects they’re working on. I was immediately given meaningful tasks to help the team reach its goals. At the same time, everyone has a life outside work, too.
What are you studying and why?
I’m studying Honors Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. I was first introduced to coding and computer science in my first year of high school. I fell in love with the problem-solving and analytical thinking that comes with coding.
Why did you choose Tableau?
I chose Tableau because of the doors they’ve opened into the world of data. Tableau has enabled thousands of users—including me—to approach data in a new way. Tableau also gave me the opportunity to work with talented people who shared similar passions for data and work on a product that I love.
What are you studying and why?
I’m studying Computer Science with a minor in Information Science. I want to understand how I would go about solving issues as a developer or a designer to create a simple yet powerful solution.
What was your favorite memory from your internship?
The people. Everyone is willing to help and support you during your internship. Some of my favorite memories came from conversations with interesting people at Tableau. Also, Bagel Friday is pretty great.
What are you studying and why?
I recently graduated from the University of Washington Foster School of Business. I studied Information Systems and Operations Supply Chain Management major because I wanted to find ways to apply principles from data analytics and project management to my interest in marketing. I also graduated with a diversity minor which allowed me to continue learning about my culture and many others during college.
