Dear Fellow Employees,
-
There is nothing more important to the work each of us does every single day than trust; the trust of a developer choosing
to build their products or services on our platforms, the trust of a customer putting its data in our cloud, and the
trust of people all over the world using, choosing, and loving our products and services to achieve more. Trust with
all of the people we touch is essential to our mission of empowering every person and every organization, and we should
never sacrifice generating trust for short-term reasons.
-
Put simply, Microsoft runs on the trust we build with each other — and with our customers, partners and suppliers. We build
trust every day by using good judgment, making ethical choices, and acting with integrity. I often talk about how culture
eats strategy for breakfast (and lunch and dinner). Our culture is actively shaped by each of us, by our individual
actions and behaviors, and by the judgment we apply to our decisions. A simple way to make good decisions is to ask
ourselves, in the long run, will my decision help build trust or damage it?
-
Because Microsoft runs on trust, we all have a right and a responsibility to raise concerns when we see something that seems
inconsistent with our values, the Standards of Business Conduct, our legal obligations, or our policies. Reporting your
concerns allows Microsoft to fix problems before they become too big. Our culture of trust is powered by each of us
taking action when we see something wrong and speaking up or asking for guidance when something doesn’t seem right.
-
The newly simplified Reporting Concerns About Misconduct policy describes the options available to you to report a concern,
what happens when you report, and Microsoft’s strict non-retaliation policy.
-
Microsoft’s culture and reputation is built on our collective actions. I’m asking you to help us build a culture that reflects
our values and inspires trust so that we can enable every person and organization on the planet to achieve more.
-
Thank you.
