ROLI performance at I/O Morning Keynote
During the warmup to the Google I/O 2017 morning keynote, attendees were entertained by the band Parisi (http://www.parisi.fm/) performing on ROLI BLOCKS (https://roli.com/products/blocks) modular musical instruments with Pixel phones and NOISE app. In the hands of virtuosos, Marco and Jack Parisi, ROLI instruments and apps are renowned for expressiveness and emotional range. But BLOCKS are also approachable by novices, and just plain fun to play. Music creation apps such as NOISE push the limits of mobile performance: low latency, stable CPU power, and glitch-free audio are absolute requirements. Achieving this on an Android device, such as Pixel, is one more step towards enabling creative expression for all.
NOISE is available on Google Play Early Access (https://goo.gl/pzWj8f) with initial support for Pixel phones and Samsung Galaxy S8.
Learn how it was done at the Best Practices for Android Audio session on Friday morning (https://goo.gl/CIN6fm).

Let Android Wear do some of the heavy lifting with new developer tools
Today, we are introducing two new developer tools to make it easier for developers to: 1) add complication support to watch faces and 2) build watch friendly UIs.
Complications are bite-sized pieces of information displayed to users directly on the watch face. They can also be great shortcuts into your favorite apps. At I/O, we are launching four new tools to do a lot of the heavy lifting. One of those is the new ComplicationDrawable, a full rendering solution for complications. It handles all of the styling for you, and adjusts the layout to fit the space you specify.
For app developers looking to develop watch friendly UIs, we are starting the process to open source the Android Wear UI library. You can expect more consistent APIs with the rest of the Android Support Library, more frequent releases and better responsiveness to developer feedback.
We would love to hear what you think of these tools, please give us your feedback. The sooner we hear from you, the more we can include, so don't be shy!
