Investigating - We are experiencing delays of up to 45 minutes in syncing changes in customer settings to Sydney, Auckland and Melbourne datacenter. This includes general Cloudflare settings, page rules, firewall and DNS changes. The CDN itself is not impacted in this region, but settings will be out of date.

We are observing delays of up to 2 hours in updates to Load Balancing configurations. Cloudflare's Load Balancing service delivery is still available: only Load Balancing configuration updates and changes are delayed.

Note: In the case where origin servers are directed at hostnames: if the IP address of that hostname changes, the delays will impact re-resolution of that hostname, and may cause traffic to fail.

Some DNS lookups causing 5xx errors due to leap second bug

Resolved - Our operations team has deployed a fix globally and this incident has been resolved. At this time all traffic has been restored, and services are back to full operational capacity.

Identified - Starting at 00:00 UTC on January 1, 2017, CNAME resolutions on some machines stopped working due to a bug triggered by the universal addition of one leap second, which affected both some authoritative DNS and origin DNS lookups, causing 5xx errors. Authoritative DNS was less affected since resolvers were served SERVFAIL and possibly retried until they hit a healthy instance. We deployed a fix at 01:30 UTC and it is rolling out to most affected sites. We will update this once the deployment is finished.
