Oh dear. Been very good up until the latest update. New version ignores the setting to upload photos only on WiFi and just burned my entire mobile data volume in one day. Now I'm throttled for nearly a month. Also suddenly using too much battery. Shame I can't role back to the previous version :-( Edit: deactivated auto upload on all folders and the new version is ignoring the settings and still trying to upload photos via mobile network!

It's a decent app. However, the auto upload of photos works only after the first few photos taken then it stops. I have to use the force rescan option in order for it to upload new photos taken with the phone. Can't quite cancel my OneDrive subscription just yet because of that.

Before the update the auto camera and file upload didn't work fully only intermittently. Now in this new update it even misses some files. If you take a picture and your setting is set to only upload on wifi then it at times doesn't or misses out files and images you took while of wifi. So auto sync and upload feature has serious bugs. Also why can't we view image preview without downloading the while file. Developers you don't need to reinvent the wheel just see the function onedrive and Google drive and give us at least that

This app has worked great. The wifi only/only when charging options appear to be very messed up. Once I take a picture, I have a nextcloud notification flash on the screen the remainder of the day until I plug my phone in so it can auto upload. This did not happen on older releases

After 2 years of use and experience : Pros: nice web ui, easy and secure share features. Cons: slow, most of their 3rd party apps are very buggy and half working, difficult to install and upgrade, difficult to find what you need from their forums, g+ channel seems abandoned, dektop sync features very poor, etc... For me trying to be EVERYTHING is their fault. They should focus from what they started to be.

I can view files on my server. I cannot upload. Both manual and auto uploads literally do nothing. I wanted the android app for auto uploading but that one feature just plain does that work. Interestingly enough, if you search Google, this is a super common problem spanning many versions.

Hi John! Thank you for your feedback and happy to hear you are enjoying Nextcloud! I can view files on my server. I cannot upload. Both manual and auto uploads literally do nothing. I wanted the android app for auto uploading but that one feature just plain does that work. Interestingly enough, if you search Google, this is a super common problem spanning many versions.
Installed this about a month ago and just realized the auto upload is not working at all. The manual upload works fine. But I got this for the auto uploads. To save my pictures and whatnot. None of the old or new pictures have been uploaded. I like the idea but the software don't work.
Since v2.0 there is no way of login so this app is just useless. You had that feedback with the beta testers and you decided to ignore. Are you trying to get owncloud equivalent service?
Nextcloud December 14, 2017
We are sorry to hear that the new login isn't working for your device. Can you please send an email to android at nextclout dot com or open an issue on Github https://github.com/nextcloud/android/issues - Your help is highly appreciated and we are sure we can resolve this matter. Upload function has never worked. Like literally, it does absolutely nothing. It works like a charm on ipad, laptop, web but not android. Also, there is this new totally annoying thing: whenever i take a screenshot, it automatically starts uploading but since the upload doesn't work, the app stays running in the background and I have to force-close the app. Seriously annoying bug.
Decent app, but since the last big update I constantly get notifications that pulse for less than a second while using the device. Pretty annoying.
Have mostly liked the app, though it seems to be creating 6 and 7 copies of files from an overseas trip back in August and trying to see what was going on would crash the app. Been hopeful that once all retries were successful it'd sort itself out. New version installed yesterday and I've had to disable it this morning as it now ignores the Wi-Fi only upload and is chewing through my mobile data
Auto upload doesn't seem to work right, being very unpredictable and missing files sometimes. The app will frequently get stuck listing a folder despite no activity visible on the server and other interfaces like the web app working fine. The server itself is showing wrong file sizes and preventing full download of large files. Definitely not yet "a safe place for all your data" like they claim. It's a very impressive project, but I'm surprised they have big institutional partners committed to it.
Difficult to use - e. g. the gallery (photo) viewer is quite limited, but yet, I cannot access the cloud photos in my favourite app (QuickPic) easily even if all is set as 'always offline', because of .nomedia. Similar with image sharing (open with or send to) with other apps - the app opens but it seems it cannot access the image. It would be nice is the user can choose the local nextcloud folder (or even only subfolder) in some standard location accesible by other apps. Or at least be able to copy the file to a standard path (sdcard/Pictures)
New version seems to upload more consistently but there is now an annoying blinking notification every once in a while that doesn't appear long enough for me to block
Latest update burned half my monthly mobile data allowance in 1 hour :-( please fix autoupload wifi-only settings...
Keeps re-uploading images, creating 8 or 9 copies before I finally had to uninstall because disabling auto upload DID NOT WORK
What's with the ever-appearing 'uploading' notification while on mobile data? C'mon guys, this is really annoying.
autoupload: photo/video is a bit confusing. progressbars colors are broken, always 100%. Android 5 galaxy s4 good software 😊
Had enough, can no longer recommend this App. This app lacks the ability to view images as thumbnail previews without having to download the image itself. The Dev app did but now fails with the message 'No local file to preview'. This is ridiculous. Not wasting my time leaving feedback on your forum or guthub for it to get buried and forgotten, leaving it here in the hope it prevents someone downloading your broken app.
As others already said, the latest update breaks auto photo upload.
Keeps forgetting the account data. Then tries to auto-upload and fails, but keeps trying, burning battery. Use the account service, for crying out loud.
Great to access your nextcloud on the go. Latest update is even better and finally comes with fingerprint scanner functionality. Thanks for listening to people's feedback.

The latest release also comes with fingerprint scanner option :) Manual- and auto-upload fails almost every time. Other than that, it's fine.
Too hard for my server, so I can't access dan backup my file instantly
Awesome Job guys, im very satisfied with nextcloud app and server.Every new addition is welcome.Keep it open source and free from paid features and addons and it will last forever!
Guys please make a notification that old file must me 'autouploaded' manually
Using this linked to a Freenas server. If there was a CamScan type feature added, it would be complete. That would allow me to ditch Google Drive completely.
Again again again auto upload does not work not only that it won't even let me open the auto upload section at all without crashing
It is a very useful app, it also is able to deal with 2FA and works seamlessly! Praise for the people behind this app.
Auto upload worked fine until update, now it's useless for me
After a few weeks ago the app can not be opened and is repeatedly crashing in the background.

Hi Marek, you are very welcome! Happy to hear you enjoy the latest version of the Nextcloud Android app :) Nextcloud December 12, 2017
Should be fixed in the next release. I have used Next Cloud around a year so far. I would strongly recommend that you don't rely on it to backup any of your documents, photos etc. Most of the time, it doesn't do sync thing that it is supposed to do so you may lose something if you think you backup them up to your next cloud server and you delete it. Thanks god I'm using google photos as well.. Thanks for trying though.

Hi Atakan, thanks for your feedback. We just released a new version with an improved auto upload and many new features and improvements. Really good and useful app, but IMHO still a work in progress. My issues with it so far (I don't use the auto upload): (1) photos and videos must be downloaded completely before viewing. (2) multiple selection is one by one only, not even select all, certainly not click and drag. (3) files cannot be synced to arbitrary folders, only to app folder, and other apps (eg gallery) won't see them.
Great App. You guys have done an excellent job with this. I am having two issues though. The auto upload doesn't work properly. When enabling auto upload on a folder that has existing files in it, it wont upload them, it only uploads new files added after enabling the auto upload. Second issue is that the files that do upload, won't delete from device when configured to be deleted. App has storage permission enabled.
Nextcloud July 7, 2017
It only should upload new files, and ignore the existing ones. The other issue is indeed an issue and will be (should be) resolved in 1.5. Review deleted
