EU extends Georgia mission

EU foreign ministers have decided to extend the EU monitoring mission in Georgia for two years, with an €18 million budget. The mission was launched in 2008 after the Russian invasion of Georgia to help stabilise the situation on the ground and facilitate political dialogue between Georgian authorities and the Russia-backed secessionist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
