So, a poet walks into a bar…

De here (aka WhimsyGizmo), and today I’d like us to mix our muses up a bit by throwing some pub and drinking terms in the blender:
shaken stirred rum sour whiskey last call
elixir on the rocks straight up twist round chaser
back dirty proof tumbler three sheets to the wind
tie one on shots hammered tipsy hair of the dog
absinthe vesper tonic kamikaze spritzer
tie one on liquid courage name your poison drown your sorrows
wet your whistle
Ah, but here’s the kicker: try to use these words in ways that have nothing to do with the bar scene, alcohol, or drinking. Use as many as you like; pour your poem as tall, short or neat as you like, and come back for another round.
And if none of these words or phrases speak to you, go prohibition on us: write anything you want. Just make it short enough to fit on a cocktail napkin. (Keep it at 33 words or less.)
And hey, if you’ve got a great bar term from your corner of the world, add it to our list in the comments. Or share with us your favorite drinking song. Or just request some kind of libation that might get your muse movin’. I pour a mean chai tea.
Cheers, and happy writing to all.
(You know the drill. Post your poem on your blog. Link up to Mr. Linky below. Read some other amazing poets’ poems. Repeat.)
