Some on the Right have gotten “their knickers in a twist” over comments Hillary Clinton recently made about certain Donald Trump Supporters. Here’s what she said, courtesy of NBC (my emphasis):
Addressing the issue of Trump’s popularity, Clinton said: “To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables.’ Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it.
“And unfortunately, there are people like that and he has lifted them up … he tweets and retweets offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric.”
She continued: “Now some of those folks, they are irredeemable, but they are not America… the other basket … are people who feel that government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures…
The Trump campaign responded:
“Just when Hillary Clinton said she was going to start running a positive campaign, she ripped off her mask and revealed her true contempt for everyday Americans.”
Republican pollster Frank Luntz tweeted this shortly after Clinton’s statement came out:

Couple of things wrong with Luntz’s take on things:
1. Hillary Clinton didn’t insult “hard working Americans”; she called out the most vile, least American among us.
2. This is nothing like Romney’s “47% moment” because:
a) Romney was disparaging people too poor to owe taxes, in front of a group so wealthy, they likely use loopholes to get out of paying taxes they actually owe.
b) Romney was disparaging people, mostly his own voting base, who did not choose their financial predicament. Deplorable candidate Trump’s deplorable supporters have chosen to beracist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and Islamaphobic.
c) Educated Republicans, Minorities, Women, Gays, Jews, and Muslims, of all parties, KNOW HILLARY CLINTON IS RIGHT.
Definition of Deplorable: very bad in a way that causes shock, fear, or disgust : deserving to be deplored
Clinton specifically said the folks she referred to as Deplorables were not “everyday Americans”. “Everyday Americans” are in disbelief at the embarrassment Donald Trump and his extremist supporters have caused this country. “Deplorables” is the perfect description for the vicious, ignorant, un-American, reprobates that have become the face of Trump’s campaign rallies. We shouldn’t apologize for the word, we should scream it from the rooftops. In fact, I think I shall.
Republicans, with Luntz’s help I might add, have been breeding The Deplorables for decades; dividing Americans at every opportunity by creating resentment. They played on the fears, racism, bigotry, etc. of their voting base, creating the perfect environment for Deplorable Candidate Donald Trump. That same culture has now brought the Deplorable White Supremacists’ out of the shadows of Republican politics and into the mainstream.

Deplorable former KKK leader David Duke, is squarely in the Deplorable Trump camp, declaring:
No candidate in this country would dare even stand up and say, ‘Yes, I definitely am going to defend the rights and the heritage of European-Americans.’ One can go on to say, ‘Yes I want to respect the rights of all but I believe our people have rights too and the ethnic cleansing of America has got to stop.’ I believe this is a sleeping tiger that is easily awakened.

Trump has energized European-Americans in sort of the implicit statements he makes, such as ‘take America back,’ and we’re going to take America back.
By the way, Deplorable Duke’s Facebook page is full of garbage like this:

and this:

Is Frank Luntz saying that Deplorable David Duke, and the Deplorable KKK are just a bunch of regular, Republican, hard-working Americans? Is he also defending the Deplorable Trump Supporters who pepper spray peaceful protestors?
Or the ones who prefer the Confederate Flag over this country’s flag?
Flags that are now standard by the way, at Deplorable Candidate Trump’s rallies all over the country:

The Deplorables don’t worry about repercussions for displaying their racism because those Deplorable Neo-Nazis have vowed to protect the Deplorable Trump supporters.

Like the Deplorable little White punks, pro-wall because their parents did such a great job raising them. They’ve probably never even seen a Latino other than on TV, but they’re already proud little bigots.
Then there are the angry deplorable old white guys like this one, who called the press “traitors” for reporting accurately on Deplorable Candidate Trump and his Deplorable supporters. After he declared himself a “patriot” of course.
This Deplorable Trump supporter comes to us from Wisconsin.
Then there are the Deplorable Trump supporters who keep screaming they want “their country” back. A logical result of the GOP telling them for years that certain groups are lazy, or taking their jobs, or getting government benefits they’re not entitled to, or choosing to collect welfare instead of working. Lies that have emboldened the Deplorable White Nationalists, now crawling out from under their rocks in droves.
Deplorable Candidate Trump’s rallies have become showcases for the Deplorable people who support him. As a Black protester was removed from a Las Vegas rally, a Deplorable Trump supporter yelled “Light the motherf***er on fire!” These tweets came from the same rally:

In Arizona, a protester was kicked and stomped.
In N. Carolina, a protester was sucker punched by a Deplorable Trump supporter who then said, “Next time, we might have to kill him.”
At a rally in Cleveland, a Deplorable Trump supporter told members of Black Lives Matter to “Go back to Africa.”, while one told them “Go to Auschwitz … go to f****** Auschwitz”
As Diversity Inc wrote:
… it is clear that with [Deplorable Candidate] Trump and his [deplorable] supporters, it has become very much a matter of monkey see, monkey do.
[Deplorable candidate] Trump says he wants to punch a protester in the face; a [deplorable] supporter punches a protester in the face. [Deplorable candidate] Trump says a protester is a member of ISIS; a man of Indian descent is… called a member of ISIS and told to go back to Iraq. … turns out the man, Sopan Deb, is a CBS News reporter covering the rally.
Referring to the altercations between [deplorable] supporters and protesters, [Deplorable Candidate] Trump said, “Can I be honest with you? It adds to the flavor. It really does make it more exciting. Isn’t this better than listening to a long boring speech you can hear that from the other candidates?”
Mashable put some of Deplorable Candidate Trump’s most heinous calls for violence together for us:
“Get him out. Try not to hurt him. If you do I’ll defend you in court. Don’t worry about it.”
“Part of the problem … is nobody wants to hurt each other anymore.”
“The audience hit back. That’s what we need a little bit more of.”
“In the good old days this doesn’t happen because they used to treat them very, very rough.”
“I’d like to punch him in the face.”
“Knock the crap out of them.”
“Maybe he should have been roughed up.”
But the pièce de résistance was this Deplorable Candidate Trump quote about a potential President Hillary Clinton:
“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the Second Amendment people maybe there is, I don’t know.”
Yes, Hillary Clinton called out the DEPLORABLE racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and Islamaphobic supporters that have been drawn to Deplorable Candidate Trump like a magnet. She also made clear they were just a portion of his support.

Deplorable Candidate Trump is the most vile, disgusting person ever put forth as a major party candidate for President. He does attract the worst of America. Big name Republicans can pretend to be insulted at the notion, but they know Clinton speaks the truth.
Republicans courted the Deplorables.
They laid the groundwork for such a candidate.
They built that.
Now they own it.
