Marcin P: I'm Red Hat Cerified Engineer (RHCE, even that expired). Those exams are pure Linux, CLI, not tests. In theory prep courses can teach anybody but practice shows that exams do requirere real life experience. You sit at an empty server, no Google to help you, and you just do your admin tasks.

Since gaining certificates (have MS, Itil and other too) career just started. Valid cert was my passport for many recruitment meetings. Yes, cert alone will not give anybody a sure job but will open doors.
For me it was a Corp. Since then I look forward and expand my knowledge/cert portfolio.

So people, certify yourself on a way for brighter future (it actually might help you). And remember to share your knowlegde as well-sharing is caring.

Dirk van der Merwe: Although I'm not Linux Foundation Certified, I am Internationally Linux Certified.

That gives me confidence that I have the resilience to work through a structured guide to master the objectives set out in the course.

You can only master the objectives by learning the theory and apply that theory during practical exercises, which will proof your reddiness for the challenging international exam.

The Certification which gives you confidence is import for you to survive in the work place and make a positive contribution to the amazing Linux Community.

I'm only 6 months in a Network Administrator position at an international company, I have already changed the Firewalls, VPN, Switches (SDN) and 3 Servers in Production to Linux Solutions.

franco rocco hernaci: I am not Linux certified. I am familiar with using different Linux operating systems.

I think certifications is nothing more than paper. Paper does not prove, and give anything.

"Linux Foundation certifications give you a way to differentiate yourself in a job market that's hungry for your skills. We've taken a new, innovative approach to Linux certification that allows you to showcase your skills in a way that other sysadmins will respect and employers will trust."

The certification is based on CLI. CLI means command-line interface.

People can also choose a distro to certify in.

In my opinion, I don't think it matters if someone is certified, or not. I think producing something is what matters most.

I lost count of how many years I have been using Linux. I learned a lot about Linux.

I use Linux to create, and host websites. Lastly I use Linux's GUI, and CLI.
