What I do at W3C

I work for the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the Web standards consortium, based at MIT in the USA, ERCIM in Europe, Keio in Japan, and Beihang in China; I am based at the French Riviera site. I joined in January 1999 as administrative assistant.

In February 2015, I became Head of W3C Marketing & Communications. I maintain a detailed description of what I do.

Within the Communications team, I am in charge of the Consortium's communication strategy and messaging, W3C Advisory Board support, W3C in the press, translations and authorized translations. Also I am involved in community development and as such, I oversee the W3C social media and blogging.

History: I joined the Sophia Antipolis W3C Team in January 1999 as administrative assistant, became W3C Europe administration manager in December 2001. In February 2005, I became part of the W3C Communications team for 50% of my time, and moved to full-time in August 2007. In February 2015, I was appointed Acting Head of W3C Marketing & Communications.

Who I am

• <general> I live in Mougins. I was born in Cannes and grew up there, mostly.
• <studies> 1992: passed 'baccalauréat' A1 (foreign languages, philosophy and mathematics), 1993: did a two-year secretarial course (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur), 1995: studied (but failed the exams) a year at the Medical University in Nice, 1996: spent a year in Edinburgh to learn English as a foreign language (sat and passed! the Oxford Higher (with credits), the Cambridge Advanced English and the Cambridge Proficient English).
• <previously> 1992-1997: worked during school vacations as medical secretary. 1997: worked for a few months as clerk in a law office in Cannes. 1998: did a six-month replacement at INRIA as secretary to the Sinus project. 1999: was hired at W3C in Sophia Antipolis (15 January 1999).
