Mic is looking for a casting director to join the team in our NYC studios. This new team member will help be responsible for the strategy and management of Mic's unscripted casting efforts.
The casting director will report to Mic’s Executive Producer.
Responsibilities:
Attach on-screen talent to projects in development for Visions, Mic’s premium non-scripted original productions arm, that will be producing content to pitch and sell to third party networks and platforms
Cultivate strong relationships with both emerging and experienced on-camera talent, personalities, and experts in the unscripted space
Audition talent for Mic, manage audition tapes and scheduling and correspondence with talent management
Manage contract negotiations with talent at Mic and talent contracted by Mic
Maintain positive working relationships with all contracted talent and their representation
Continuously evaluate talent pools, from digital and traditional publishing outlets to emerging platforms, for potential
Retain working relationships across the major agencies, keeping them apprised of new projects and reviewing talent offerings
Assist in identifying and harnessing relationships with budding on-screen talent in efforts to bring them in house at Mic
From time to time, help cast talent in projects for Mic Vantage, Mic’s in house branded content agency
Establish relationships with key social media influencers to help promote content produced by Mic Visions
Must Haves:
5-7 years of experience in casting for unscripted development, ideally a portion of this time spent at an agency
Demonstrated success in sourcing dynamic talent for on-camera opportunities
Some experience with news and talk show personalities as well as comedic talent
Comfortable working with a wide variety of content formats or varying length (short form 1-2 minutes to traditional long form 22-60 minutes)
Ability to perform well in high-pressure situations
