I think we look for sports as inspiration for our own lives. To see individuals and teams persevere is an inspiration to us who are overcoming physical, mental, and financial obstacles. To watch the grit and determination to be their absolute best gives us motivation to keep working toward our own goals.
When I heard that Luck retired my immediate reaction was, “What a whimp. Couldn’t handle it. He made his money and ran.” After a couple days to digest, now I understand it’s more about my jealousy that he has an easy out and maybe the rest of us don’t have such an easy out.
If I were in his shoes wouldn’t I do the same? I think it’s more difficult to empathize with someone who’s better off than myself, but it’s still the right thing to do.
Looking forward to seeing how #7 can step in and develop into an all-pro caliber qb with an amazing roster around him.
GO COLTS!
