The Mixcloud Co-founders met running a college radio show at Cambridge University in the UK.
At that time our listenership numbers were roughly two dozen people, but those early days were where the passion for radio, and the power of curation, first came from.
When we graduated college, we were DJing, playing parties, and recording mixtapes. We were searching for somewhere to host these radio shows and mixtapes legally. At that time — in the mid to late 2000s — the choices were essentially YouSendIt, MegaUpload, and other file sharing sites.
That was the original genesis behind the birth of Mixcloud - to build a platform for radio presenters and DJs to upload their shows and reach a new audience
