I agree with you, but with one little reservation - when the violence threatens your very existence, you have two choices: to submit and hope you will not die, or to resist violently and put every chance on your side to not die.

You may not realize how close you are to what Islam preaches - peace on earth will be only when everyone converts or submits to Islam and Sharia becomes the only law:
Dar al-Islam, or house/abode of Submission, is also known and referred to as Dar al-Salam, or house/abode of Peace, and there is where Muslims live. The outside world, which has not yet been subjugated, is called the "House of War" (in arabic Dar al-Harb), because it is in a perpetual state of jihad, or holy war, on non-muslims (Kafirs or infidels).
As you may see, there are two different concepts of peace - cooperation and respect, or total submission to the "master".
