A MOMENT FOR REFLECTION AND TOGETHERNESS; AND AN IMPASSIONED CALL TO ACTION
Thanks to the millions who made their voices heard, congratulations to all who were successful, and to all those looking for what to do next - join us now. We have work to do, and that starts now.
There is no questioning that our country has moved steadily over the past years and decades in a progressive direction – led largely by Millennials as the most diverse and tolerant generation in our history. An estimated 50% of young people cast more than 20% of all votes in the 2016 Presidential Election, and that matters. But we are also witnessing a powerful flash of frustration and resistance to the progress we seek.
In the coming months and years, our national and local leaders will need to bring people together as we seek meaningful solutions to the critical issues we face and to fight for a more just and inclusive future envisioned by the enormous generation of young voters we represent.
We must support each other in this fight. Take a pause. Reflect. But don’t stop fighting. There is too much at stake. Just two years from now as we will once again decide who will lead the House and the Senate. Sooner still, each state and locality will hold elections that deeply impact our communities. Our democracy is strongest when all our voices are heard and our leaders are responsive to those who show up.
