The Michael S. Engl Family Foundation Research Center Library supports research on American Modernism from the late nineteenth century to the present. The Research Center’s holdings consist of both library and archival collections relating to Georgia O’Keeffe and her contemporaries, American Modernism, and related regional histories.

The Research Center Library supports the museum staff, fellows, volunteers and public users during select hours by advanced appointment. Appointments can be made using the appointment form located on the Visiting the Research Center page.

The Michael S. Engl Family Foundation Research Center Library collects materials primarily on Georgia O’Keeffe, Alfred Stieglitz, the Stieglitz Circle and their contemporaries; as well as American Modernist issues in art, architecture, design photography, literature and music from the 1890s to the present. Among the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum’s most unique library and archive collections are Georgia O’Keeffe’s personal property including the libraries from her homes in Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu.

The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Archives include important materials relating to Georgia O’Keeffe and her contemporaries such as oral histories, correspondence, ephemera, and photographs. The Archives also actively collects institutional files relating to the Museum’s history and manuscript collections of scholars dedicated to the study of Georgia O’Keeffe and Modernism. Archives finding aids and select materials from the archives collections have been digitized and can be accessed through the Museum’s online collections.
