Overall the best feature this app offers is the rumaji option that allows you just to type the word you are looking for as it sounds by using the latin aphabet. Cool app but the kanji list is not so complete, for which I instead recommend the " let's learn Japanese" app that, although it show s a not-so-elegant interface, has probably three times more kanjis.

Any chance for universal app?

Wonderful app with built in study lists, dictionary, kanji lookup. It helped me make great progress in Japanese. Thanks for making this app. Any chance for making this a universal app for Windows 10?

From WP8-10: Tango Master

2016.08.01 WP10 is for productivity, learning, & working. No distractions from animation & live tiles. I'd like to resume using Tango Master, but it seems there's nothing I or anyone else can do to hold onto this masterpiece of an app. Learning began with Tango Master & remains part of my studying. The great WP Japanese keyboard combined with this app saves a ton of time without hindering real progress - as long as it's not the only means of learning. Thank you. June 2016: I'm a devoted Win/MSFT user but to be honest, without Tango Master I don't need a WP. I've been using this life-saving app since my first WP in 2012 to learn Japanese so I may visit/move to Osaka. I've used the dictionary to translate songs by my favorite bands, added the words to custom lists to enhance learning, & much more. I've delayed updating to W10 solely because I can't bear the thought of losing all my progress & future studying. Nevertheless, thank you for being the reason I use(d) WP.

Super awesome app to help along with anyone's studying Japanese. I personally use it to improve my fluency in hiragana and katakana most often, but there are also vocabulary or phrase testing you can use too. I think the dictionary could be better because it's missing some words like for the number 7 they have "shichi" but not "nana." However, the dictionary does have most words. Another feature I like is how you can alter whether the app displays kanji, hiragana, katakana, or romaji depending on what you are fluent in already. They don't eliminate displaying how the words are usually written, but it shows you the option you want to focus on first.

This app is pretty fantastic. I love the quiz model, and the direct feedback about progress on specific kana. I wish there was a mode that tested/reinforced writing. It shows stroke order, but there's no structured way to practice the writing.
