There are various online storage solutions assuring to save you from data disasters, but since the hi-tech cyber bandits have engulfed the cyber space, it is very difficult to securely transfer or store information. Several incidents like photo leaks from celebrity profiles, business data infringement and malware attacks surely brings in a huge question regarding safety of storing your digital life.
Is your online storage solution provider sufficiently equipped to tackle this issue?
Well, it's a point worth thinking over, since you cannot afford to lose your digital life. Your private and confidential files in wrong hands could be much more harmful than mere data loss!
This is exactly why IDrive focuses on privacy and security. Our services are built from the ground up using our own infrastructure, APIs, and a sharp focus on privacy and security, with 256-bit AES encryption and a private key option, known only to you, which makes it impossible for anyone to have access to the data except the user.
What is encryption? Let's get into details
Encryption is the process of converting normal data into a code, using certain algorithms, which makes the message un-interpretable. You must have access to the reversal process to revert that code into the original readable form. Thus, encryption secures data from any unwanted or unauthorized access.
IDrive uses the Advanced Encryption Standard for securing your files during online data transfer. AES is one of the strongest encryption techniques available, today! Right from high profile security agencies to leading banks, AES is widely used for securing data.
The size of the AES key defines the complexity of the encryption. It indicates the number of transformation rounds your data undergoes during the process.
The cycles of repetition per key size are as follows:
IDrive uses 256-bit AES, the maximum key-size available, for encrypting your files; which means your data undergoes 14 rounds of transformation before it is transmitted or stored! These figures speak volumes about your data security.
That's not all! IDrive provides you an option to select Private encryption over Default encryption.
Difference between Default and Private encryption
During default encryption, a system generated 256-bit key is used for encrypting your data. The 256-bit encryption key is generated using a random metadata from your account. No one has access to the system generated encryption key and your data remains secure.
Conversely, during private encryption, the 256-bit encryption key is generated using the private key that you provide, which acts as an additional layer of security. We do not store your private key on our servers, which means it is known only to you, ensuring utmost security for all your files.
Versioning
IDrive stores 10 previous versions of each file backed up to your cloud account. So, anytime you realize that your files are corrupt, all you need to do is restore it from your account.
Multiple Device Storage – All in One Account!
