Gallery Pages
Gallery pages are the foundation of any Format site. This article explains how to set up a Gallery page.
Let's get started!

Log in to your Format account.
Click Pages on your Dashboard.
Create New Page

Click Create New
Click Gallery

Click Gallery
New Page Added

The new Gallery page has been added.
You can see the new page has been added to the left sidebar.
On the right you can edit the page's content and settings.
Select the page's title and add your own title.
(Note: New pages are hidden by default. We will first add our content then make the page visible.)
Page Title

A Page Title will appear in a Gallery before all other content.
Click Add Item
Click Page Title
Add Text

A new Title Element will appear.
Click on the Title Element to add text. A blank text field will appear.
Type your text in the field. (You can select your text to bring up formatting options.)
Edited text will save automatically.
Text/Image

By default, Title Elements are text however you can use an image instead.
To use an image hover over the Settings button and click the Text/Image toggle.
Text/HTML button

The HTML button (available on Pro and Agency plans) lets you add custom HTML to your Title Element.
(Note: you may lose content if you switch between Text and HTML. Back up your work in an external text editor before switching.)
Add Images

Click Add Item
Click Image
Upload or Import

You can Upload images from your computer or Import them from another page on your Format site.
Let's Upload.
Select Files

You can Select Files from your computer or drag and drop images into the window.
Let's Select Files.
Choose and Upload

You can select multiple images to upload.
Browse to the images on your computer and select your images.
Click Open
(Note: We recommend uploading images with dimensions of a least 1200 x 1600 pixels. You can upload images up to 20MB in size each.)
Uploader

Your images queue in the Uploader.
Click Start Upload

Your images will upload one at a time.
If you need to stop your upload click Stop Upload
Captions and Alt Text

Once your images finish uploading you will be able to add Captions and Alt Text. Metadata attached to your images will be imported to your Captions and Alt Text automatically.
You can edit this text or you can remove it by clicking Clear All.
Once you are happy with the Captions and Alt Text for each of your images click Save.
(Note: Alt text is text that describes the content of an image. Alt text is not displayed on your website but rather in your site's code. Search engines can read it and it can help to give better search results for your site. It is also used to help visually-impaired people understand the content of your site by describing what is depicted in an image.)
Arrange Images

Your images now appear in the page editor.
Drag and drop your images to re-arrange them.
(Note: Title Elements cannot be re-arranged.)
Add a Caption

To edit a caption click below the image to activate the text field.
- To edit Alt Text for an image click the Alt Text button (it looks like a little tag).
- To swap an image for a different image click the Change Image button (it looks like a two arrows pointing in opposite directions).
- To delete the image click the X in the corner.
Settings

Once you are ready to make the page live on your site click the page's Settings button.

- Type a URL for your page and click Save
- Click Make this my homepage to set the page as your homepage
- Set Hide to OFF to make this page show on your Site Menu
View Page

Click View or the View Page button to see the finished page.
