Is WPML compatible with my theme?

WPML works great with most themes. Any theme that uses the WordPress API for its functionality (like custom fields and post types) will work smoothly with WPML. We cooperate with theme authors to ensure compatibility and resolve any issues. If you buy WPML and have any sort of problem, we’ll do our best to help. If we can’t or you don’t want to use WPML, we refund your order promptly.

Which WordPress versions is WPML compatible with?

WPML runs on WordPress versions 3.0 and above. We always upgrade WPML ahead of new WordPress releases, to make sure that you don’t have to wait for us. WPML works great with both single-site and multisite installs.

What is the difference between the CMS and Blog versions?

If you’re running a blog and you want to translate it yourself, the Multilingual Blog package is right for you. When you’re building websites for clients, you need the Multilingual CMS package. It allows to translate every aspect of your site, right from within the WordPress Admin panel. Your clients will be able to use WPML’s advanced translation management capabilities, which include translator roles, job queues and email notifications. The Multilingual CMS Lifetime also includes all of WPML’s components, but gives you lifetime of updates and support, without ever having to pay for renewals.

Can I upgrade from Blog to CMS?

Yes. If you buy the Blog version now, you will be able to upgrade to the CMS version later and pay the difference. Most web developers need the full CMS version, as it includes modules for translating complete websites. If you just want to experiment with WPML’s Blog version, you can do that and upgrade to the full CMS version later. Please note that upgrading WPML from the Blog to the CMS version does not include the renewal of your account for another year.

How do account renewals work?

If you buy a Lifetime account, you don’t need to worry about renewals. If you get the yearly account (either Blog or CMS), you can renew your account for 50% of the original price. Renewals at this rate are available while your account is still valid. You get another full year. If your account expires, you may buy a new account, or upgrade to a Lifetime account, but you cannot buy the renewal at 50%. Don’t worry. We will not let you forget. We send out reminder emails 30 days and 3 days before your account expires and we also show a big message about it inside your wpml.org account.

What happens if I don’t renew my WPML account?

You need a valid account to download WPML and get our support. Without a valid account, any WPML version that you already downloaded will continue to work normally in your sites. Nothing will stop working. Please note that a valid account is required to download any WPML version. Without a valid account, you cannot access our downloads section.

Will WPML translate my content automatically?

WPML allows you to translate everything in your site, but it doesn’t do “machine translation”. You will be able to translate yourself or send content for others to translate. Google really doesn’t like sites that employ automatic translation and WPML doesn’t do it.

Do I get a tax invoice?

After your purchase completes, you can login to your WPML account, enter the company information and get a printable tax invoice on the company’s name.
