Just a few days before the historic opening of the beautiful United States Embassy in Jerusalem, Israel. So excited for the ceremony and proud of all the Embassy staff who worked so hard to make this event happen. Eternally grateful to President Trump for his courage and vision.

Abu Mazen has reached a new low in attributing the cause of massacres of Jewish people over the years to their "social behavior relating to interest and banks." To all those who think Israel is the reason that we don't have peace, think again.

Was honored to greet Secretary Pompeo today in Tel Aviv as part of his first trip as SecState. He had an important meeting with Israeli PM & then chatted at length with many of our Foreign Service officers. He's off to an amazing start!

Rain in Israel is a blessing. But this week that blessing took a tragic turn. Americans are heartbroken by the loss of life resulting from this week’s flash floods. We send our condolences to the families of all the victims and pray for all those who are in mourning.

Fought the rain and hail yesterday to visit Nazareth where I met with talented Arab entrepreneurs, students and business leaders. Great things are happening in Northern Israel, and we need to build upon early successes to create more opportunity and achievement.

Wishing a happy Eid-al-Nabi Shuaib to the entire Druze community here in Israel who celebrate the life of a man revered across all religious faiths. Yitro (Jethro) was the father-in-law of Moses and a true biblical hero! May his memory continue to inspire us all!

At Mount Herzl tonight (Israel's Arlington Cemetery), Israelis abruptly shifted from mourning their losses to celebrating the miracle of their 70th anniversary. As King David said from Jerusalem 3000 years ago (Psalm 30), from tears at night come joy in the morning.

At 10am today, a siren was heard for two minutes throughout Israel to honor the memories of 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators. I stood on a Jerusalem street as all traffic came to a stop and people stood in silence, many in tears. We must never forget!

I was misquoted in various reports stemming from an interview that published today. The United States is not seeking “to replace” Mahmoud Abbas. It is for the Palestinian people to choose its leadership.
