Donald Triplett, #autism's "first child" and the hero of our book and movie, died this morning, peacefully and surrounded by family. On a recent visit, we had a chance to tell him how many his story had inspired. He thanked us. But we thank him. Now, always.

Words have meaning. And meaning can change over time. Which tells us what, when the Supreme Court seeks to follow the "original" meaning of the Constitution. A thorny question and excellent episode. I host and Thomas Colby.

So we dodged the #debtceiling crisis this time, but don't we know it's going to come around again? What about just getting rid of it? That's what I was asking and to argue in our latest ep.

For anyone out there who breathes air ... this debate is about you. It's about creating technologies to get CO2 out of the air (as it contributes to the greenhouse effect) and whether they're worth the cost and effort. #climatechange

I met Newt Minow late in his life, having long admired his public service, rectitude, and passion. As moderator for , I cherish his part in creating the US presidential debates. He died this week. 97. We had a chance to talk once. Listen.

I really loved this book by . It's for folks who want to know how the First Amendment works in real life -- and how we got there -- and who don't mind hearing some fun stories along the way (aka, "an easy read")

After a summit with China, Putin announced a new nuclear project that could undermine a recent joint statement in which China and Russia declared their opposition to countries positioning nuclear weapons on foreign soil. What does this mean for their complex relationship?

Barely heard in the #tiktok hearing was a coherent argument AGAINST a #tiktokban. There IS one. I heard it when I moderated one of our best recent @iq2us debates. Not taking sides (not what I do). Just saying that there are two, at least. youtube.com/watch?v=tQQZQs

I hosted an @iq2us debate on the sex offender registries in the 50 states. They only have a history of 30 years ... or less. We asked, do those 30 years prove they were a good idea, or not? Listener opinions are pretty polarized on this one.

13/ Arguing that the answer is a resounding YES is Kara Swisher, who has interviewed Musk many times and has been, at least in the past, an admirer. Answering NO is Anthony Scaramucci, who sees in Musk a man who has proved he can innovate solutions to tricky problems.
1
11/ Financially challenged, polluted by bots, riven with acrimonious discourse, exploited by demagogues and scam artists, Twitter became something that heavy user Musk said still "has enormous potential," promising "I'll unlock it."
So, how's that going?
That's the debate.
1
10/ All true, but ...
So that when Twitter headquarters was staffed by about 30 people.
A few months ago, Musk fired 3500, and still had about that many left.
And it's on the matter of Musk's leadership that our next debate hinges.
1
1
9/ Or Biz Stone: "What we are seeing with Twitter is that people in general are good and they want to do good things and they are making things happen and they are using our tool to organize these great things."
1
8/ As Evan Williams said then:"Part of Twitter's beauty is that it can be used for so many things and we sort of have this idealistic view that more good things than bad will come of it."
1
7/ But it is also clear in the interview that neither of these two thoughtful and likeable guys expected any of
the bad stuff. They acknowledged it could be addictive, and still weren't sure how twitter would ever make money. Otherwise, it was all upside.
1
6/ So I'm asking, "How are you not Facebook?" and "How is this different from blogging?" (Remember blogs?)
