The web redesign, CSS, and mod tools by spez in modnews

Apologies, I didn't intend to be contradictory in that statement so hopefully I can explain this better. For years CSS has been used as a means to implement both style and functionality. While the CSS itself will become obsolete, the styles and functions are aspects we want to replicate in a structured manner. In many cases, the functional hacks created with CSS are informing the direction we are taking with the redesign.

Banners and custom flair are extremely common use-cases, so we will want to support how you currently use that functionality.

That is actually a design from an A/B test that we aren't moving forward with. We are looking to disable that feature flag soon. Apologies for any confusion!

We're still working on building all of this out, but if you have specific concerns please do inquire in that thread. We will continue to let you know our direction on this as we move forward.

We recognize all the efforts put towards creating unique styles and functionality through CSS, and those efforts are not being thrown away. I understand your concerns, but we'll be here to help you make this transition.

Pretty much everything about HQG is sweetness. Too bad we'll be shutting it all down.

I love seeing that awesome things redditors create when we give them the building blocks. I can't say that this is a feature we'd implement for sure as we'd have to work out the mechanics, but it's a really interesting thought!

Yes, but for most functionality or design purposes we will try to give you similar capabilities.

Hey there! Could you send me a PM with links to the posts and/or images that you are still seeing? For the login issue, if you can include a screenshot of any login errors you are encountering I can look into that as well. Thanks!

Regarding the new Moderation Guidelines for Healthy Communities: a viewpoint on two specific features. by Bardfinn in ModSupport

[–]sodypop[A] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heya! This sounds like it is aimed more at other mods rather than admins, so you might try posting in /r/modclub instead.

To your point though, adopting standards across multiple communities is sort of contrary to moderating them in an isolated manner. It is also not something that could easily be done as different groups of moderators all have their own interpretation of what is considered trolling. As Tim-Sanchez pointed out, this wording is flexible enough to allow networks of communities to be managed under an overarching set of rules or policies. This would include places like the sfwpornnetwork or /r/ImaginaryNetwork.

Moderator Guidelines for Healthy Communities Effective April 17, 2017 by 75000_Tokkul in ModSupport

We announced these would go into affect about a month ago. It's important to note that these guidelines do not exemplify any significant shift from how most subreddits are operated. We did, however, update our process in /r/redditrequest to reflect some of these new guidelines.

So Reddit is serving Flash ads now? by reseph in ModSupport

[–]sodypop[A] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I had a chance to follow up with our ads team and while we make our best efforts to block flash based ads, some do get through from our partners. If you see any of these in the future, please send an email to [email protected] and be sure to include as much detail as possible such as a screenshot and URL to the ad you saw.

By the way, I reported that Minecraft ad from your other comment so no need to report that one. Thanks for being patient while I looked into this! :)

How to change default comment sort. by DistraughtStrawberry in ModSupport

[–]sodypop[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! You can change the default comment sorting on your subreddit's settings using the desktop site settings here:

/r/CNET_ALL_RSS/about/edit

Look for the dropdown menu below the "suggested comment sort" option and set it appropriately. As for the live sorting, could you share a screenshot of where you are seeing this? Thanks!
