Dont you think that Earth in the dbz universe is a VERY special planet? by MartianCactus in dbz

[–]mmmasian 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Cell may only exist because of Goku's actions. Gero created the Androids as vengeance against Goku destroying the Red Ribbon Army. Cell only became so powerful because he had access to the DNA of the Saiyans, and Earth's other greatest warriors (who became so strong through competition with Goku).

Majin Buu's revival is similar in the sense that the only reason why he was able to be revived was because Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan's combined power.

Why Does Goku Abuse King Kai? by TheDawnOfTexas in dbz

[–]mmmasian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the MOST likely explanation here is the one that Goku gives at 1:04 in that video - he teleported to King Kai's planet because of how strong the gravity was, and knew that the Boss Poacher was way too weak to move in it. There was never any real danger from his perspective.

I have a badly though out reason why the TV and Movie side of the MCU aren't really connected. by insukio in Marvel

[–]mmmasian[M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's mostly this. Marvel Entertainment split off from Marvel Studios in 2015, with Kevin Feige now reporting directly to Alan Horn (Chair of Walt Disney Studios) instead of to Ike Perlmutter, Chair of Marvel Entertainment.

This isn't a bad thing though - even though we'll probably never see the likes of The Defenders and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on the silver screen, this allows them to explore more adult concepts that (Disney/) Marvel Studios would never be able to.

Take a look at the timeline again. Tony announces that he's Iron Man in November 2008, and Civil War would take place in June 2017. That makes Vision's statements still technically correct - 8 years and 7 months.

Homecoming says Avengers takes place 8 years later - June 2010 to September 2017 is 7 years and 3 months.

Vision is just rounding down while Vulture is rounding up.

From Kanzenshuu:

From the start, the Jump Super Anime Tour special was promoted as being based on a story by Toriyama. In fact, the opening credits to the special credit Toriyama with the first draft, in addition to his usual credit in the openings as the creator of the original work. The actual script for the special is, however, credited as being written by Takao Koyama, the same man responsible for all of the Dragon Ball Z movie scripts. Toriyama did come up with the basis for the story, but he did not flat-out “write” the finished version. Still, this represents more involvement from Toriyama than any of the other movies had received.

I'd say Tarble's canonization is still up in the air.

I think that a big chunk of the poster too is based off the D23 trailer. I'm sure execs knew that Blonde Widow and Bearded Cap would get big reactions, so it's stuff that they featured in this poster.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blonde Widow only featured for a couple of scenes before going back to Red by the end of the movie.

Possible. But playing devil's advocate, we've really only seen Falcon in this poster, and in suit. We don't know what measures he's going through to disguise himself as a civilian.

And well, Steve did grow a beard so...

To be fair, we've seen very few characters that can stand up to SSB Goku in the Tournament of Power. I mean, is it not just Jiren, Toppo, Hit, and Kale? And to be fair, no one knew about Kale at the time. It definitely makes sense that everyone is super impressed during the exhibition match.

I'm guessing you didn't make it down to the very bottom of my post?

The patient that Doctor Strange is discussing is not Rhodey. That's what I originally thought too, but the director has gone on record to say that it's NOT War Machine. They call him a 35 year old Air Force Colonel, and Rhodey, while good looking, isn't 35.

It's more than likely one of the experimental suits that Hammer or another competing were working on.

The reason why that package doesn't have any bearing on the timeline is because it's an impossible date. The only time in recent history an April 14th has fallen on a Tuesday is 2015.

I just have Vision rounding down as my explanation. If November 2008 is when Tony revealed himself and June 2017 is when Civil War takes place, then we're left at 8 years and 7 months for how long it's been.

There's two different posters for it, I confirmed on a repeat viewing. One for September 14th and October 13th-15th. The reason why we went with the September one is because we know that the decathlon is a one day event from the movie itself.

I don't think it's a fuck up, I think it's a purposeful move to have the years the movie started in and out of universe be 2008. I also think this is a move to make The Avengers feel like they were together longer than they actually were (before the new guard takes over).

That being said, the line is, "For the past 4 years you've operated with unlimited power, and no supervision. That's an arrangement the governments of the world can no longer tolerate."

There is still a loophole in this line. The World Security Council and S.H.I.E.L.D. did supervise The Avengers during The Battle of New York. Tony Stark even had the supervision of Colonel Rhodes during his mission to save the President of the United States.

Things got rocky in 2013 when Thor initiated The Battle of Greenwich without any kind of government approval. I think you can still make Ross's line make sense.

I don't disagree, but the movies in the cinematic universe should take priority. It's shown twice in Homecoming that's it's 2017 (Davis's file and the instruction manual for Flash's new car). It's also mentioned twice that it's been 8 years since New York.

No way to reconcile that with Talbot's line unless there was a second invasion between Avengers and Iron Man 3 that wasn't mentioned.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, with new information from Spider-Man: Homecoming by mmmasian in marvelstudios

[–]mmmasian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always attributed that to The Battle of Greenwich in Thor: The Dark World, which started the trend of Avengers going off on nonsanctioned missions since becoming Avengers (Iron Man 3 not withstanding since Rhodey was there and they saved The President).

It's mainly to keep it as clean as possible with Agents of SHIELD. In the Season 2 premiere, they mention that they've been looking for Coulson's team all winter after SHIELD fell, which puts the year in 2015. The framing comes from the Season 2 finale, when Jenna gets transported to the alien planet, she meets Will shortly after and mentions that it's 2015.

I actually put the blame on that for Thor. The Avengers were sanctioned during The Chitauri Invasion, and Tony at least had the companionship of a USAF Colonel when he saved The President. Thor had no sort of sanction or government approval during The Battle of Greenwich.

They do, which is why I specified the movies. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as with the Netflix series', should be treated a a second tier source of information.

I mean, you're welcome to try to argue that with me. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s first episode takes place after Iron Man 3 because of Extremis being a part of Project Centipede. Thor: The Dark World takes place after Episode 7. Captain America: The Winter Soldier takes place after Episode 16...

I had actually been considering the change with Civil War taking place at the end of Peter's freshman year, and Homecoming taking place at the beginning of his Sophomore.

I HAD Iron Man 3 in Christmas 2013, but there's a very specific reason why I changed it. The prop department for that movie is full of errors, noted by this screen that says 02.31.2013. A completely nonexistent date.
