Try making the models in either Techne or Tabula. I might have a few old models I could donate (Coconut Crab and Irish Elk) if you are interested. The coconut crab lacks textures though, and the female and baby variants of the Irish Elk have some graphical issues regarding their legs.

I also made the buffalo model for Totemic. While that model is my asset, I will clarify things with Ljfa to see if it is okay to use in other mods with my permission anyways.

If for some weird reason is it not okay to let you use my model, you can set the buffalo from Totemic to spawn in the overworld via Biometweaker. Check the wiki for BiomeTweaker on GitHub on how to set that up.

Dynamic Surroundings (There is an unofficial port on 1.9 and 1.10) could also liven up the ambience.

And regarding your brother's disease, he needs to be looked at ASAP. He has been already, but some of what you are describing is photophobia, and that can be caused by some really nasty things. Reddit is not a place for diagnosises, and I am not a doctor, but that sounds like the photophobia could be caused by Meningitis.

Just a suggestion for your usage of ambience, but I suggest for an RPG feel, to use music from various "Epic Music" bands such as Two Steps From Hell, if you can get permissions for that.
