I recently finished the series again, and I noticed that JRS perfectly understands and respects the concept of consent.
He is gross, and he hits on a bunch of women over the course of the series, but every single time he's rejected, he doesn't push back. He accepts each woman's autonomy over her own life, and he immediately gives her space after she tells him to get lost.
I admit that this abrupt shift from confidence to conciliation is part of what makes his character funny. But it's still cool to see that even someone as bone-headed as Jean-Ralphio can take no for an answer.
