Welcome to Ask r/MLS!
By popular request, this monthly thread is here to allow all comers to ask their burning questions that may otherwise not warrant its own post. The questions DO NOT have to be solely about Major League Soccer!
You can use this thread to do things like:
Help you decide which team to follow if you're new to the league
Discuss how to watch MLS matches, and whether or not you should buy ESPN+
Understand the CBA, league roster rules, drafts, waivers, or other MLS concepts
Learn about some of the unique qualities of the US Soccer pyramid
Ask about, or ask something of, the r/MLS community
Ask a question of the r/MLS Moderators
Anything that you might otherwise post with a thread titled: "Help me r/MLS" or "ELI5"
Good morning again, r/MLS! Today we're set to announce the first team eliminated from r/MLS Survivor 2019 and get the voting underway on Round 2!
Some excitement in Round 1, as we have the first instance of our immunity mechanic coming into play! As a reminder, random numbers are generated each round to equal the number of teams remaining in the competition (meaning there is a greater chance of immunity early in the game and a lesser chance later). If the final two digits of the total votes matches one of the immunity numbers, the team with the most votes that round is saved and the second-place team is eliminated instead. Amazingly, the 26% chance of immunity occurring this round has indeed happened and we have this result for Round 1:
ATLANTA UNITED FC has been saved by immunity! The LA GALAXY have been eliminated from r/MLS Survivor contention!
The top five vote totals this round (italicized indicates saved by immunity, bold indicates elimination):
Atlanta United FC - 45 votes (18.8%)
LA Galaxy - 44 votes (18.3%)
Los Angeles FC - 40 votes (16.7%)
Seattle Sounders - 33 votes (13.7%)
New York Red Bulls/Portland Timbers - 10 votes (4.2%)
The top five voting fanbases:
Seattle Sounders - 30 votes (12.5%)
Atlanta United - 29 votes (12.1%)
FC Cincinnati - 19 votes (7.9%)
Portland Timbers - 15 votes (6.3%)
