The one and only subreddit dedicated to dirge music. Happiness is overrated.
What exactly is dirge music?
- The Oxford English dictionary defines it as a lament for the dead, especially one forming part of a funeral rite; a mournful song, piece of music or sound.
- The pop culture definition is slow, lyric-oriented music, usually sung by baritones.
(We accept both, really. We're not that picky.)
What am I supposed to post here?
- Please stick to artists who are famous for their poignant outlook on music. We have a lot of respect for dirge gods such as Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, The Smiths, Giles Corey, The Antlers, Sufjan Stevens etc.
- However, you're free to post your favorite sad song, regardless of artist or genre, on Gloomy Sundays.
- Self posts are welcome, whether you're feeling down, looking for advice, or just having a really bad day. We're here for you.
- Any other type of content is greatly appreciated (pictures, comics etc.), as long as it's somehow related to dirge music.
