I've been thinking about investing into a new modern deck. I have basicly always played Merfolk, Dredge or Jeskai midrange and have been looking at Death's Shadow decks as a potential new deck. It seems like its safe to invest into, with few potential ban-worthy cards, and seems both powerful and fun to play.

My main problem: There are so many variants

I've primarily looking at these four variants, but can't really make up my mind. I know Grixis best, from playing against it. Jund would be cheaper to invest into since I have most of the lands already. Sultai interest me for the combination of counterspells, goyf and Veil of summer (aka cryptic for 1 green). And Ranger-Captain of Eos seems like gas in this deck, especially in a more combo/control meta.

To everyone who has played with or against these decks; What are your impressions of these different variants? Which ones are better in which metas? And do you have some personal touches you like to add to Shadow lists?
