Yemen’s main airport was lifeline to sick patients needing critical medical evacuations, but past 2 years its been target practice for Saudi-led coalition’s bombs. Gross tactic of war.

Agree there’s reason to be optimistic for Colombia, but humanitarian crisis & violence continue unabated. About 20,000 people forced to flee this year, up 110% from same period last year.

Another suicide attack far away from media headlines: Yesterday’s attack in capital of Nigeria’s Borno State, Maiduguri, demonstrates insecurity in northeast Nigeria. City is a major aid hub, sheltering countless conflict-displaced Nigerians.

An end to war, displacement & sexual violence in ? Cautiously optimistic as new peace deal signed. Must bring full, safe & unimpeded aid access to all parts of country.

The UN Security Council must stand firmly behind the envoy to Yemen to support the resumption of a political settlement to the conflict. Every council member & all with a role in this conflict must work to create suitable conditions for lasting peace.

Greatly encouraged by remarks made by UN envoy to . His invitation to conflict parties to Geneva next month represents the most promising step towards peace in years of brutal conflict. I strongly urge conflict parties to embark upon it.

Urgent to get a mediated solution for Yemen’s Hodeidah port. Conditions deteriorating rapidly. Civilians remaining see fighter jets overhead & several strikes on the city. The parties to agree to UN proposed solutions.

War is ending in Syria’s South West with bombing, brutality, bitterness, agreements and evacuations. We cannot have the war now engulfing as it is full of already displaced and evacuated civilians. It must end there with negotiated agreements.
