True hero. Lance Naik Sandeep Singh of 4 Para (Special Forces), unit that conducted the 2016 surgical strikes, gave his life yesterday at LoC Tangdhar. Killed 2 infiltrators at close range before falling. Leaves behind wife, 5-year-old son & grieving unit. Rest in peace, Sandeep.

China has a most sensible rating system for tourist attractions around the country. The highest rated sites are termed 5A. I don't know if India has something similar. If not, this is something that might be worth emulating.

A correction. My historian friends say that the middle goddess is children-protectress Shashthi (Ṣaṣṭhī) षष्ठी, who is also Skanda's consort. In the painting below by Raja Ravi Varma are shown Skanda's two consorts, Valli on the left and Devasena (or Shashthi) on the right.
