I think it’s fine to expect sympathic extensions to historic buildings but there’s something to be said for bold, contemporary additions. Berlin’s “new” Humboldt Forum is pastiche and may actually replace a better building with an impossible attempt to capture the past.

You could ask the same of any single nation’s foreign policy in fairness. As a citizen of a small member state, pooled sovereignty has consistently benefitted us disproportionately. The less said about pooled sovereignty on taxation, the better 😇
