I think that I wrote it without a hyphen in the first draft, so I just went with what the copy editors put. But it works okay for me.

Wow: I'd completely forgotten I wrote that piece on Private Practice. Thank you for the essay, really thought-provoking and insightful. I also love Ariana Grande and didn't know some of these details.

Yeah, I’m with you. I completely get why people get upset — I care a lot about shows I love as well. But it goes without saying that I think it’s valuable to take art seriously and think about it and debate about it & I find that stuff fun, not harmful.

"Nobody got killed, nobody got robbed" will make a heckuva campaign slogan for 2020.

Ha ha, what a crazy argument. That tweet did work when I read it in the voice of Joan Rivers, though.

Link me up! I’d love to read that. One thing I didn’t have a chance to include was that that note was apparently one that he passed to other comics as well, which kind of bummed me out on her behalf, although it was still a kind gesture.

No. (And The Knick was not on deathwatch when I wrote about it: it was getting raves.)

Well, we just disagree. To me, this show stacks the deck (historically, characterologically) in ways that make it less funny, less delightful. I like a lot of fantasy-oriented shows, this particular one just doesn’t work for me—glad it works for you.

Accidentally mixed up some notes on True Detective with my notes for Watership Down and I think I have a new TV show to pitch.

I interviewed Alexis Bloom, the director of , the new movie about Roger Ailes. And I wrote the story even though I broke my hip and am in the hospital recovery from surgery. SO PLEASE READ.

Maybe! I do think it’s also notable that sometimes women seem to feel obliged to change or question their own opinion in order to be collegial. (But of course, I also appreciate people not being aggressively nasty to me, even if they disagree.)

They were children. It was unspeakable. And then our leaders did nothing—so we all stood up. Today marks 6 years since the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary. No matter how many years pass, my heart breaks. No matter how many years pass, my life will remain devoted to this cause.

My first and last photos of Ana. Murdered six years ago today. I miss feeling normal - I miss that smile on my wife’s face. Most of all, I miss you, sweetie-girl.
