getting "crucified" by a load of misogynists and homophobes. Good.

I mean, the article is at pains to point out why Ali is the greatest sporting figure of all. It doesn't say anything remotely similar re Rapinoe. This is abundantly clear when you read the piece.

The piece isn't saying she's any kind of figure equivalent to Ali. However, she is undeniably a huge political icon for her community - just like Ali. This is undeniable, and to question it is just not reality. That's the extent.

Why is Rapinoe one of so few footballers along with Sterling - at a time of massive global upheaval, and the greatest culture war since the 1960s - to speak out politically?

Excited to be involved with the festival which is only a few weeks away. I'll be chairing a panel on football and the media and asking questions like: 'Does the media hate your club?' There's loads going on all weekend. Come down and participate!

I was quite disappointed by sequel, must say. Some good moments, but lost it

Surely with 2012 Olympics, that’s more down to the diversity of sports, and also the very relevant debate about facilities and pitches. Exposure of single-sport tournaments are proven to have huge effects. One of the biggest case studies is Ireland post Italia 90

Warnock has. He got a bit of backlash but not that much.

First mention of the comparison, immediately followed by... oh what’s that an admission 👍🏻. You can just admit you didn’t read it rather than trying to save face. And, again, since you of course didn’t answer the first time - how can it be “wrong”?

The point of the piece is it’s not just the Lionesses. It’s the vast majority lf football, including many US players. Another exception is Raheem Sterling.
